Whats unique about your wedding ?

Anyone doing any unique ideas for the wedding? I dont really have any "unique" ideas .... We are ringing a bell (i will ring it once for my brother, and the groom will ring it once for his bother, both have passed away). And of course the officiant will say a few words regarding them, also a single white rose will be on two empty seats (one on the brides side, the other on the grooms). As far as the reception, i gues you can say we are having a "Philly themed wedding".... we are having the tables named after Philly landmarks (Liberty bell, art museum, genos, etc.), philly soft pretzels and a bottle of water as favors, and for the place cards, we are having skeleton keys with a piece of paper connected to them with the guests name/table. (Skeleton keys because Ben Franklin flew the kite with a key). And we have the beautiful view of city hall right out the reception windows, ironically we got engaged right in front of city hall, and at the reception you can look down to see where we got engaged ( totally not planned). How about you girls ?

Wow I can't wait for you to post a recap and pics of your wedding!!! I am so not creative...my FI is a professional dancer and I suggested he name the tables after different dance styles..that just shows you how creative I am...NOT! lol

  • Bliss, that is creative ! Ive never heard of that actually . I like the idea ; )
  • Ours is also largely Philly themed.  We're getting married at the Loews hotel, so we immediately thought of the Loews movie chain and modeled our save the dates after the When Harry Met Sally movie poster.  We tried to get the Phanatic, but he has a home game that night :(.  My MOH designed our invitation suite, and she sketched the skyline on them.  I think we'll do table numbers named after Philly buildings or landmarks and also have MOH sketch each building for the respective table. We're also pretty big beer people, so we're allowed to have 3 local craft brews at the wedding, and we'll likely choose Yards Love Stout as one. (Our RD will likely be at Yards Brewery, too).

A few other unique little things.  For the placecard table, we're having a manzinita tree on which we'll hang photos of FI and I through the years.  We're also into long distance running, so we've tossed around the idea of incorporating our race bibs into the wedding....but that might be crossing too many different themes into the wedding.  One thought was race bibs as table numbers (with race photos and a description of why that race was special), so our guests would see their table assignment and think "Why am I at table 13235?" and get there and see why.

And my favorite "unique" thing, is that my nephew who will be 13 months old at our wedding, is a groomsman.  I can't wait to see him in a little tux!

  • Ours is a bilingual wedding... I'm vietnamese, while my FI is causasian.. our wedding invitations have both languages on it... instead of a church ceremony, we will have a tea ceremony at my parents house - with me wearing a tradtional vietnamese dress... then our reception will be american style with white dress, etc...

lauren123455: same here! My favorite thing will be my  nephews, they will be be 14 months by my wedding, they are twins and will be wearing a tux and joining us during the grand entrance...cant wait! I hope, they can walk by then :)

  • They are very unique ideas ! I can only imangine how kids will look as groomsmen ...so cute hahahahah
  • I guess you could say we're doing "al fresco dining by candlelight dinner party followed by insane dance party" theme...haha. I wouldn't say that's a theme and I wouldn't say that's unique.

I think the most unique thing about my wedding will be how I incorporate my father in a subtle way. He passed away 10 years ago, so I don't want to make it sad, but I want to honor him.

  • i am having a baseball karaoke wedding!  my fiance is a phillies phanatic!  when the groomsmen are announced, they are going to run the bases we set up at the reception site. :) the musical entertainment is karaoke!  if i do say so myself, i'm a damn good singer! (i'm trained) and my fiance and I and a lot of my friends are going to sing some karaoke at the wedding. :)
  • I think our wedding is  a bit unique based on venue. It's being held at Mermaid Lake in Blue Bell, which doesn't do a lot of weddings. It is outdoor and there is plenty to do -- there will even be a pool. I think more of a country charm type bbq wedding. I am excited since it will be casual and fun!
