Warning, job related/financial vent ahead:
As some of you ladies know I had some job related issues back in December where I was off of work for a few days (unexpectedly) and since then I feel my supervisor has it out for me. Flash forward a few months and if anyone is watching the news, you'll see that our Governor in WI is changing unions and worker rights. So now our union is trying to get our contract extended until Dec 31, 2011. Which is fine, I'd end up with an 8% tax cut so that would take my income down about $6000. However, at the end of the year, if this change goes through that our governor wants, our employer can fire at will when it goes into effect. Hence why I'm so worried. All along I've told FI all we need to do is get through November....now, I'm praying that we can afford this wedding. I know we'll have to take out a loan now knowing what my pay cut would be, heck, add it to my school loans, car loan, credit card and mortgage for good's sake.
So I applied for a job this week with a private agency since public employers aren't hiring, but learned that it was filled internally. It just sucks because I went into social work knowing the pay isn't the greatest, but now even with my Masters I'm worried that I can't make ends meet. And I know we're not living outside of our means...it's just sad that our schools and other public agencies are being cut.
I know there isn't much anyone can do...but please keep your fingers crossed that I can keep my job through the wedding. Because if I lose my job, and I'm not trying to be doom and gloom, just realistic, we'd lose our house and who knows what else.
***sigh*** vent over...head to your fridge/freezer and do a shot of whatever you have handy!
On the flip side, I found a DJ and cake for our AHR! That's a positive right?!?!?
