Travel Agent Advice

Hello Ladies!! I am recently engaged and my fiancée and I are looking to have a destination wedding! It looks like this is a great board! After reading some of your posts I have came to the conclusion that I probably need to start by calling a travel agent. I also got that Beach Bum Vacations is a good place to use. I just want to be prepared when I call them. Are there any things that I need to be sure to ask? Do I need to have the exact place that I want the wedding at in mind before calling (because I don't). What do I need to know or have prepared before contacting a TA. Just looking for any advice or suggestions that anyone is willing to give!

    I think having a general idea of what you want is a good thing to start with. A list of must-haves and nice-to-haves is helpful. Although, when I called our agent I had said that we wanted to get married in the USVI and she gave us a lot of great advice, which led us to getting married in Jamaica! :) BBV is great -- they have a Q&A for you to fill out too so that helps with a lot of the questions they need to ask you. But, if in your initial conversation, you can detail a bit of what you envision for your wedding, that is helpful. I'm working with Melissa and she is great!

    If you're not sure exactly what you want, you could always try to figure out what you don't want and maybe that will help.  I think I filled out the form before I talked with Marcie, so it forced us to focus on some must-haves. We had no clue of even which country, let alone which resort, so I'm sure you'll be fine. Smile
