Cheap all-inclusive

I know all of you have done major research in this area so I'm looking for some help. We are looking for an all inclusive resort to take my dtr too next year. At that time she will be 18 so it doesn't have to be kid friendly. Anyway we are looking for somewhere to go costing $1200ish. Anywhere but Mexico only because I have been there many times so I'm looking for somewhere new. Any help is appreciated!!

  • I don't know of a particular resort, but you should check out Jamaica. They seem to have good prices. Dominican Republic too, but they flights can be expensive.

  • Sandals/Beaches always has good deals going on. I would check out their website. We've stayed at the Sandals in St. Lucia and are getting married at the Sandals in Negril Jamaica. Sandals is adults only. I know you said she is turning 18, but you might want to check if she has to be at least 21, cause I'm not sure. Good luck!

  • I was going to suggest Sandals also!  I am also getting married at the Sandals Negril (Jamaica)  and I have been obsessed with the Sandals website...for the time period I am staying (Feb 2013) I have several quotes (I will look for the pdf) to give you an idea.  Adults only does mean 18 and over in Jamaica so it may be the same on the other islands as well!

  • Keep in mind that at Sandals they charge for double occupancy...even if there is only 1 person in the room, they'd have to pay for two and they do not allow more than 2 people to stay in a room.  At Beaches resorts, since it is family friendly (kids/adults any age can stay there) I THINK they allow up to 4 people to stay in a room, but you'd have to check that :-)

Also, although Sandals does have daily activities, games, parties etc for the guests...for an 18 year old, maybe Beaches would be the more fun resort.  I know one of the Beaches resorts in Negril has a water park with slides and a nightclub that is for tweens during the day and adults only at night.  I've seen Sandals marketed as more of a couples only more romantic scene...but that doesn't mean you wouldn't have a good time as a family :-)  i always say vacation is what you make of it!

I found the pdf, if you like, I can email it to you but for a general idea the quote I have for 5 nights based on double occupancy for Sandals Negril in the lowest category room was $1265 per person NOT including flight. Hope this helps :-)

  • I can let you know what Dreams PC is like in October!! It seems pretty awesome from the website (their pool extends from the lobby throughout the whole resort!). They do not charge double occupancy if there is only one adult, like mentioned above for Sandals.

When are you trying to go? I went to Jamaica in 2008 for $1165, and about $1100 in 2009 to DR. Both were in May for 7 days 6 nights.

  • You should contact BBV, I think they help with individual trips! I know that DR and PR are generally really priced cheap. You might also want to keep an eye on travel deal sites like Jetsetter, Living Social, etc. because I know they always post unbelievable deals for resorts.

  • I was about to say Jetsetter and Living social too ! They always have the best deals. We got our honeymoon for $499 on Living socal (reg priced at $999). It only included the accomodations but that is still a great deal considering how nice the place is.

They also have Groupon Getaways that can be cheap.

Thanks everyone. I will look into all your options. My dtr is going to ask a friend to go so I guess I will have to see if there will be 4 of us instead of 3. I'd much rather her bring someone. She's old enough to be on her own but we can also do the family thing as well. I will check out the websites mentioned as well as BBV.

Ps, we are looking to go at the end of June after her graduation. Kinda a gift but not really....more of a family vacation.

  • Hello-

Look into the Riu Bravaro in Domenican Republic. The resort is beautiful by the looks of it, and I've stayed at a Riu in Jamaica and their food was really good. I believe the Bravaro went for 1200ish.
