Veil Questions

So it is getting to that point where I am starting to think about all the little details. I have about a 2 week break starting Wednesday and after that it is class until mid August, and which point I will be starting my fittings!!

How did you all decide on a veil? I tried one on when I first picked out my dress. I was on the fence about it, and I think that I would like one. I am just not sure what kind would look best/how to even go about that process.

Re: Veil Questions

  • Mine actually is the veil my mentor wore when she got married. She's lending it to me as my something borrowed :)
  • I have been thinking about a veil lately too.  I am really torn.  I see all of these really cool wedding photos with veils blowing in the wind and such.  I was just going to do a hair flower, but now I am thinking I might regret not getting a veil too.  I haven't even started looking for anything though...

  • I am of no help unfortunately, as I am not wearing one for my wedding. Good luck on your search, I am sure whatever you pick will be beautiful!

  • I was not too excited about wearing a veil, but I could tell my mom kind of liked the idea.  So we went to check them out at the shop where I got my dress - they had 2 that had some lace around the edge that matched exactly the lace on the top and bottom of my dress.  There was a big difference in cost between the 2 b/c of the designer - I went with the cheaper one!  I only plan to wear it for the ceremony and some pictures, so I did not want to break the bank on it!  I do really like it and the lace edging was thinner.

I got it in the elbow length and now that I have picked it out, I am happy that I decided to get one - it looks great with my dress!!

  • I wasn't going to wear one but when I was dress shopping I fell in love with the very long veil that goes down my back and also got the one that goes in front and reaches down to my waist (don't know the formal name for it).  I think FI wants to lift it.

  • I went with a birdcage veil because I wanted to have a more vintage look.  At first I wasn't going to wear one... but my mom really wanted me to and I figured when else would I get the chance to!  I didn't want to wear a long one so I felt the birdcage was a good option for me.

    I don't have much advice...sorry

  • Sorry, I can't help you out either. I didn't wear a veil. You could post some pics of things you are looking at and what your dress looks like and maybe we can help you out.

Personally, I love the look of mantilla veils.

  • I didn't wear a veil either, just a fresh flower, but agree if you post pics of your dress and the types of veils you like we can try and help you decide.

  • I think it really boils down to whether or not you like them/want to wear one.

I knew right away I didn't want to wear one. I also was worried about being outside with the windy and it flying all over the place, lol.

I say go with your gut! Try on various styles, etc. and go from there!

  • I won't be wearing one. I'm a hairdresser so the hair is a big deal to me and I just don't want to cover any of it up. I think it just all depends on what kind of look you are going for. Good luck in your search!!

  • I didn't wear one either.  It can get pretty windy where we got married, and I didn't want to deal with it blowing around everywhere.  I did fresh flowers.  I'd say, go and try a bunch on with your dress (and then you ahve an excuse to put your dress on again) and see what you like

  • Thanks ladies!!! My dress is Mori Lee 3091 (minus the shoulder strap).....I can never figure out the clicky thing!  I haven't even had a chance to really look at them. I think I would like to wear one because I really like the way they look in pics.

This is how I would like to wear my hair.
