Do y'all think this is weird?

So, I have a few single girlfriends (and a few guy friends, too) coming to our wedding. All of them got +1's, of course. Do you think it's cool for them to bring just a friend of the same sex? I think it's totally fine, and my FI thinks it's weird. I mean, they're not all dating someone and I'd never expect them to travel alone. I went to my girlfriend's wedding in Vegas and brought a girlfriend with me. Granted, I was like 22, but still.... Just curious on your thoughts!

I don't think it's weird. A good friend of mine is bringing a girl. She isn't dating anyone and doesn't want to travel alone and doens't really know alot of people that well that are going to be at the wedding. Plus, the room is cheaper when you room with someone. So ya, I think it's perfectly fine.

Nope, not a problem at all. It is kind of weird to ask a random guy or gal to a friend's destination wedding too! A regular wedding isn't a big deal, but they would be shelling out all of this money, and if things don't go well in the mean time, they are out hundreds of dollars!

Nope. As the others said I don't think that I would want to that far alone. If I knew someone else that was invited to the wedding and needed a roomy then that would be different.

I think it is totally fine for a destination wedding ! You do not want to travel alone and if you are single it would be fun to take a friend. It would be different if you were not allowing guests...but if you are oking the +1 then that means anyone !

I think its fine too. One of my BM is bringing her girl roommate, who I am friends with too but wasn't going to be able to invite due to the limit we put on guests. Tho she was being invited to the reception when we get home anyway

As an old married popping in I don't think it's weird. We had a few friends that opted to go this route. They didn't want a girl to get he wrong idea I guess, and a few girl friends of mine just wanted a low key getaway. There isn't much time spent in the rooms anyways.

Totally cool. Plus it's much safer to travel with someone else, especially since I assume they will be hanging out without you on other non-wedding days. Who wants to hang out alone, unless you are really looking forward to some tourist things.
