For those getting married at home ...

When are you going to the courthouse ? We were talking about this last night, while we would love to do it right before we leave, we are kind of nervous that something could go wrong. And did you get your license and get married all at the same time ? I just do not want to go to the courthouse more then once if I do not have to...always a long wait and millions of people in my city.

  • We just went last friday to get our license.  In Chicago the license isn't in effect till 24 hours after you get it.

We are then going to go on the 15th (EEEK Friday!) to get married legally.  We were told it takes 7 days to get the official certificate and we wanted to have that for when we travelled just in case.  this way FI will go on the 25th to pick up the certificate since he works across the street from city hall.  That way we will have it when we leave on the 27th.

    Anniversary
  • I haven't gotten to that point yet, but we will hopefully be getting legally married on Sept 14 which is our anniversary. That leaves us with almost exactly 1 full month before the DW.

  • We haven't gotten all the details yet but FI and I were thinking about doing it a full month before we leave that gives lots of time for papers to come in and everything to be official before we leave. I would really hate for something to go wrong and us not have time for errors....

  • We are having our civil ceremony on 10/28/12 and then we leave for our destination wedding/honeymoon the next day. We are having a symbolic wedding on 10/31/12.
