Marriage Requirements - Caribbean

My FI and I are planning a destination wedding next May.  We are trying to decide where we would like to get married.  The problem we are running into are all the residency restrictions.  This would mean, that we would have to arrive on a Sunday, do paperwork, meet the residency requirement of 2-3 days, and then get married on Friday (we are looking at St. Lucia and they don't do weddings on wkds?) only to fly back on Sunday.  I want to get married on a beach in the Caribbean but the idea that I am only going to get a "2 day" honeymoon kills me.  Any ideas, suggestions, experiences you can share?

We're getting married in Puerto Rico.  There is no residency requirement, so you can take care of everything from the mainland and still get married on the beach. However, you still have to go in person to get the marriage certificate, etc.

 We just went down to visit and saw a beautiful resort (La Concha)  that you might like.  We have opted to get married in the city, but it was a hard choice.  La Concha does beach ceremonies and the prices seemed pretty reasonable.  I took a million pictures while we were there - if you're interested just let me know

I recommend Grand Cayman.  You can get married on the day you arrive.  And I think they do weddings any day except Sunday.

I understand.  The residency requirements does put a kink in the official honeymoon time.  But, I'm getting married in St.Lucia on a Saturday, you just can't get married on a Sunday.  We are arriving on a Tuesday, getting married on Saturday, leaving on Wednesday. We both took the remainder of the that week off, so when we return so we can have more "honeymoon" time.

This is one of the reasons we chose St Thomas Definitely look into the USVI!

Thanks for the suggestions ladies.  The FI's only job is to find a location.   We will see how this goes.

We chose Jamaica and a big factor was the ease of marrying there too.  Our resort took care of filing the marriage documents for us way before we left & we only had to be residents for 24 hours.

And good luck & congrats, too!  I can't help but wonder if I'd even be married yet if I had left the location choice up to my DH!?  HA!

We're getting married before we go.  It was supposed to be a simple thing, but since no one's coming to the DW except my parents, everyone wanted to go to the legal ceremony.  So it's turned into a way bigger thing than I had planned.
