MC vs DJ

Hi girls... so for those that are holding a dance after dinner/ceremony, are you doing a DJ or your own iPod/music list with an MC? We are considering both but just were told about the idea of having an MC this week and I like it. I know that would be cheaper...

We are actually doing a DJ with an MC.  I was going to go the ipod route but decided against it, because I wanted to have the music be changed and mixed based on what the group is dancing with... AND I didn't want to have to worry about someone fumbling around with my ipod or list of music.  AND for our place, the price difference for an Ipod/speaker set up and DJ with an MC was only $200. and the DJ is all night... not just for 4 hours.  So I felt it was worth it.  If it's a HUGE price difference I'd probably consider the ipod more.

Now you've really thrown me for a loop, hahah do both MC and DJ -- ahh! Jen I'm happy to hear that the price difference wasn't much. We'll have to look at that... because if it isn't much of a difference, it might be worth it just to do a DJ.

We are doing an iPod with a speaker system. I think the speaker system was $250 and I get to pick all the songs. I liked the idea of having all the songs we wanted vs a DJ that may play crappy music.

I love this board b/c it makes me think of things that I would otherwise forget. I just emailed my WC to make sure someone was handling the MC duties ... thanks Lora !

Depending on the DJ, they can MC as well. We wil be going the Ipod/Computer route for the DW . FI was a DJ for a number of years and has all of the equipment and software to essentially "premix" a selection. If we decide to do an AHR, I am sure he will want to hire his friend that is a big time DJ.
