Hair style timing?

My ceremony is @ 4pm...

...what time do I reserve an appointment for hair (and maybe make-up? I'm undecided)? It says "special hair style - medium" takes 90 minutes, make up time is variable. I won't be taking pictures with the groom pre-ceremony.

Thoughts? TIA!

Re: Hair style timing?

  • I would say if you are not doing pictures before I would schedule for 2:30-3 depending on what you want and if you are doing makeup too.  My hair only took about 45 min to and hour to do it and then my makeup was about 20min or so..... My hair s just past my shoulder, and it also depends on what you want done with your hair.

  • I would probably schedule it around 1-1:30 if I were you. I think my hair & makeup took 1.5-2 hours, and I would want to have some extra time just in case. Do you have to travel at all or will your hair/makeup be done at the ceremony site? You can always ask the hair stylist for her/his opinion on the timing as well.

I never thought to ask the stylist. Duh :p Thanks for the suggestion.

The spa is on site, so virtually no travel.

  • My ceremony is at 4:30.  We're getting hair/make-up girl to come to the hotel suite at 11am to get everyone ready for the ceremony (4 gals) and have pictures taken!
  • I've been in plenty of weddings and we always got our hair done first, then make-up then dressed... the process for the bride is about 1:30 to 2 hours. Especially if you're having the photog take pics of you getting ready, I would do like Mishy said and have the appt about 1-1:30. This way, you'll be all dolled up for the "getting ready" photos but not completely done where there's nothing to take.

If you have a bridal party that will also be getting ready with you, have them go first with hair then while you're getting your hair done, they're getting makeup done.

  • I agree with Mel let your bridesmaids and moms go first, while you sit back and sip on champagne! lol  I was curious about the same thing since my wedding is also at 4.  I was thinking about starting around 1ish.
