~UPDATE!!!! More info from my FB post...vibes please ~UPDATE!!!!

Buckle up...

So today was just a busy day at work.  I asked to leave early so I could get ready for the jewelry party I was having tonight (I found starfish necklaces from Premier Designs that I wanted).  So I came to home to clean, cook and chill.  Well...about 3 hours out from the party I get a phone call from my WC.  My WC tells me that the beach I want to get married is booked (no more permits being sold).  Umm...hello...I thought this was taken care of.  Yeah, not so much.  It was supposed to be done last week as well as the payment for pavilion.  Well...needless to say the county didn't get back to my WC and that left time for other brides to snatch up the sunset wedding.

So I called my mom...just crying hard because I'm a loss!  She gets upset and starts going off and mother hen takes over.  I give her the number for my WC and I later learned she called the county regarding the pavilion.
**As a side note, this lady at the county has given me the run around for 3 months about WHEN I could reserve this pavilion!

About half an hour later, my WC calls me.  Apologizes (which was VERY helpful) and then tries to offer a solution:  instead of getting married at sunset, we can get married the hour before.  Then to help this situation, they'll keep a photog around for the next 2 hours and we'll still get our pics on the beach at sunset.  However, we don't know for SURE if the pavilion is still open.  WC is calling in the morning to get the 3-4 ceremony permit and pavilion.  Fingers crossed this works out.  If not, I'm changing beaches...and that means my postcard STD's aren't correct anymore!

Thanks for reading this...and you can unbuckle your belts...this bumpy ride is shut down for the night!

So now the jewelry party is done...my eyes are still sensitive from all my tears...I'm off to bed!  Here's to a better day tomorrow...and hopefully good news!

UPDATE:
So this morning I didn't hear from my WC, so I called him right when I got to work to see if the vibes paid off.  Well for the most part things worked out.  The WC was able to secure the permit for the beach from 2:30 for set up and our ceremony will start at 3pm.  However, the pavilion can't be used until 4pm...so after the ceremony while we're doing pictures, our guests will be mingling with no place to go.  The WC asked if we could get in early, but was told no.  So...that means I'll have to find someone who can help throw on some table clothes and see if the place where we're getting our food will deliver to the beach...then I can just find a few things to go on the tables and be out of there between 6:30 and 8pm.
All in all, it seems like the ceremony part is good...just a little unsure about the pavilion (which was something I talked about here a few months ago).  I just have to see if there is any family or friends I can have decorate for me.  I'm sure that seems tacky...but our main reception is here...I just wanted to thank guests and provide some food/drink after the ceremony.
**Sigh**
At least my postcards from VP are still usable and things seem to be on the right track.
Again, thanks so much ladies for your vibes and listening...patience is so not a virtue of mine!
Thank you again!

  • Awww, what a mess!  I know it will all work out for you.  What a good mom to call the WC and get her @ss in gear.  Keep us posted.
  • I really feel for you. The popularity of our wedding date is driving me nuts. I'm sending lots of vibes your way! Hopefully you can still get married at the beach just a little earlier. Then that will give you lots of time to take pictures and everything before sunset. Definitely keep us up to date on what ends up happening! :)

what a flippin mess!! I'm so sorry this happened to you and crap on the county for not be more prompt with you.

I hope you're WC can resolve the issue in the morning and can get you the 3-4 spot. At least you would get the same beach and like your WC said...get your sunset pictures...

and if it doesn't work...I'm sure people will completely understand the change. Of course, I say this and I'd be screaming at FI saying that I just wasted all that money on the postcards for it to say one thing and now we have to go somewhere else...but I'm a bad example...

Tons of knottie vibes your way!!!

  • Aw Jen :( That just sucks *hugs* I am SO mad at your WC for you! She should have had this taken care of so you wouldn't be in this position. My fingers and toes are crossed that she is able to get the permit for before sunset. The pictures done at sunset will be amazing so that's a plus right? If you do have to change beaches we all can help you research the best most beautiful one to book! And if you have to do new STD's there's always VP right? ;)  Good luck and keep us posted!

it WILL work out!  even if you dont get the beach you wanted, im sure wherever you end up will be amazing.   maybe you'll end up on a better beach that you didnt even know existed!!!

and if the STDs arent correct, who cares?  It gives people the date, and a heads up that they will be traveling if they choose to attend.  thats all they really need.  the formal invite will take care of the rest.  heck , my STDs didnt evn have a location on them!  I totally forgot!

    It'll work out!!
  • Aww Jen, I'm so sorry to hear that!!  I hope the revised plan works out! Sending ::vibes:: your way!!!

  • Im sorry you are going through this right now.  But if its one thing I have learned from my ordeal the last few days is everything happens for a reason, and sometimes it works out for the best having things changed a bit!  I hope it gets sorted tomorrow and you get the 3 - 4 time slot!  Keep us posted!

  • Hey Jen, I'm sorry to hear your going through this. Dealing with public beach permits and all was actually one of the reasons that I am splurging a bit on having our ceremony at the Hilton because I was too nervous about coordinating all that with an independent WC company. I'm sorry that the WC and county made this tough for you.

I agree with Nessi - definitely DON'T worry about the STD's, at all. All you needed to give your guests was a date and general geographical location. You can always update your website, and include the correct info on the invitation.

Also, about the sunset time...I was curious because I originally wanted a sunset wedding, but in May the sunset isn't until late (8.15) so I'll have to settle with ducking out from the reception to go capture some sunset shots. Anyways, because I was curious about the difference in sunset time, I looked up the sunset time for 11-11-11 in Tampa (I *think* those are your details, or close to them) and the sunset time is at 5:40 pm. I just wanted to point this out to you so that you are aware that a 3-4 pm ceremony will be more than an hour before sunset. You might already know this, just wanted to add it in, in case you are relying on your WC for this info and didn't know the exact time yourself.

:::::vibes::::: that you find a resolution you are happy with!
  • Sending vibes lady!!

And YAY Mom! It might work out for the better, my photographer said that you actually have the best light 45-30 minutes BEFORE sunset. Maybe all those time snatchers will not have as good of light as you!
  • So sorry to hear about of this stress! Will definitely be keeping this situation in our t&p!
  • I'm so sorry this happened!  I was going to say the same thing as Carey about sunlight... our photographers said the best light is in the last 30-45 minutes before sunset. So, we're taking most of our pictures then and just doing a few later of silhouettes when the sunset actually happens.  So, your pictures just might be even more beautiful now.

I hope you're able to keep your same beach. Vibes your way!
