Destination Wedding Help!

Hi, so my fiance and I have been planning our wedding for July and have all of a sudden thought lets just have a destination wedding! I'm wondering if anyone else is also planning a destination wedding, where are you going, what hotel, whats including, and how much is it costing for the wedding and the hotel food etc, and how much are your guests paying? :D

Re: Destination Wedding Help!

  • We are ALL doing destination weddings hence the Destination Wedding board! lol

I think there are ladies going to various US locations, tropical locations and we might even have someone doing Europe (wasn't someone doing Italy?)

We do have the sticky up at the top of the board which answers tons of questions. Everyone has a different scenario going on though so many of your questions are going to have WILDLY different answers unles you get a little more specific. Congrats and Welcome to the board!!
  • We are doing a cruise wedding. Getting married at embarkation do non sailing guests can go. If ppl aren't cruising, they only have one night hotel and gas costs. I think for 20 ppl it was about $1800 This inc flowers, food, open bar, cake and officiant
  • Hi!  We decided to do the destination thing when we realized that we really aren't the tradtional wedding people and we really wanted an excuse to have a vacation with all of our friends who are spread across the country.  We're going to Curacao in June (warm, beaches, but below the hurricane belt so I can breath a little easier as we get closer to storm season).  We had looked at doing the Sunscape all inclusive resort there, but in they are in the process of changing hands and we weren't confident that they would be completly up and running by June.  We are helping our wedding party by paying for their hotel rooms for 4 nights (and if they want, they can choose to extend the vacation themselves).  Our hotel (Avila) is not AI, but there are nearby restaurants and we are walking distance from town.  It wasn't quite the idea scenerio, but we found a deal that costs $90 less/room/night, which will make up for the cost of food.  this really helped since we've been in love with the hotel since we first saw it, but were worried it was going to be too expensive.  We'll host a few events while everyone is there so most likely they'll have at least one meal a day taken care of for the few days around the wedding. The wedding and reception will be at the same hotel, and we're in the process of working through those details now (my wedding cordinator actually has a meeting with them today to discuss details!).   Good luck with everything

</div><div>I chose Negril Jamaica since FI and I have never been to Jamaica and when I did all of my research I saw and heard all good things about the beautiful 7 mile beach of Negril!  I am getting married at Sandals (adults only, all inclusive) so if you have any questions about Sandals or Beaches (the family friendly version of Sandals), I'd be happy to help!</div><div>

  • Welcome!

I did something different than most- I got married without guests in Australia along the Great Barrier Reef. So, not knowing your budget and your situation with your guests, this may not work for you. But, I thought I'd throw it out there because it's different and it may intrigue you :) If you want more info, please feel free to ask. Our particular package was just as expensive as the average wedding in the US, but it doesn't have to be done at that level. We splurged a bit because travel is our passion and we put a lot of money toward it every year. The wedding portion was only $3K fo the package and $3K for the photograper.

  • i am a destination wedding bride and i love it!! puerto vallarta has some great deals with delta airlines and there are some great hotels with great prices for the wedding package...way more economic that getting married her in us, i can recommend you Villa premiere hotel & spa
  • We choose Sandals Royal Bahamian.... We wanted luxury & a kid-free zone as it is our honeymoon also. As it stands about 24 guests are going which is way more than I expected!  I think Sandals is beuatiful BUT I will warn that I started off wanted one of the package deals for the photography include was like 12 photos... you CANNOT take your own photographer either.. so when I realized that I would be upgrading alot of the package then I went to the full customization...... table overlay is $100... my FI about fainted.... so just a warning if you pick a package READ THE FINE PRINT :) Happy Planning.....
