Fall Wedding Venues

Hi guys!

Just got engaged yesterday (yay!) and am already on the hunt for a venue for Oct 2013 wedding.  Looking for a very autumn/warm/comfy feel with lots of trees that will be changing colors.

My top choice right now is Fonthill Castle in Doylestown.  So anything with that sort of feel.

Looking for suggestions for any venues I may have not come across yet.

Thank you! Smile

Re: Fall Wedding Venues

  • My venue is in Villanova and has tons of grounds/gardens and the fall weddings there have been gorgeous. Appleford Estate.
  • Have you looked at the Lake house?  We were invited to a wedding there but could not attend.  The pictures from it look very nice though.

Fonthill is only a tent righ?t so it could be really cold, or if it snows like last October.  What about Hunting Hill Mansion in Ridley Creek State Park.  It doesn't get more fall than that place.  I walk my dog there all the time.  Gorgeous!
  • Moonshine-  Ooh I'll have to look into Appleford!  I don't think I've even heard of that?

Broodc2-  Do you mean the Lakehouse Inn in Perkasie?  I've thought about there as well, but my sister went to a wedding there in the summer and wasn't super impressed.

Tasha-  Yeah Fonthill is only a tent.  I'm not thrilled with the whole tent idea, but the grounds are exactly what I'm looking for.  And I love the idea of the cocktail hour on the upstairs patio.  But I hear ya, with my luck I'll get the random October snow storm!

Thanks so much for your suggestions!  I'll look into all of them when I get home!!
  • I CANNOT RAVE ENOUGH ABOUT THE CENTRE BRIDGE INN!! Locatedin New Hope on the Delaware!  Absolutely beautiful, quaint charming, reasonably priced and they are remodeling!!!!
  • Oh that's pretty too, thank you!!

I'm reaaalllly loving Old Mill in Rose Valley and considering visiting the Phoenixville Foundry.

Check out Huntingdon Valley Country Club.  I'm getting married there in late Sept. 2012 and the venue is beautiful!  There is a huge terrace on the back of the main house that overlooks the entire golf course. If there's good weather, they typically hold cocktail hour out there, but they have plenty of indoor space as a backup if needed.   With all the changing colors in October, the view would be lovely and pictures on the grounds would be amazing as well.  Carol, the coordinator, has been an absolute dream to work with too!
  • Did you look into Sand Castle Winery?  Harvest is September and October so the grapevines are changing and the leaves on the trees surrounding the property/river.  We are getting married there in August and would have choosen October if we didn't have family members that will be out of the country that month.  Their event planner sent us pictures from some weddings from last fall (I think they are on their website also) and they were beautiful!  You can have a reception in the Garden Pavillion (tent) or inside the winery tasting room and/or upstairs art gallery.
  • Thank you for being so helpful!

I'm finding out very quickly that any tented reception has to have amplified music (band/dj) end at 10pm because of noise ordinace.  UGH!

Looks like my top choices just got wiped out, crap!
  • Try the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge.  Affordable, and right outside Valley Forge National Park, so you'll see all the fall foliage.
  • I'm getting married at the Old Mill in November - I LOVE it there and the trees look great in the fall :)
  • Lynda- I saw your post in another thread and sent you a private message! Hope you don't mind :)
