Cruise Wedding

Hey Ladies!

I am thinking about having my wedding on a cruise to the Bahamas and I was wondering if anyone else has done this and how things went. I am looking at booking with Royal Caribbean and doing a Nassau shoreside wedding ceremony. Any insight would be great! Thanks!!!!

Re: Cruise Wedding

  • Check with Carnival cruise lines their prices are cheaper.
  • Carnival will definitely be cheaper but if the cost isn't outside your range Royal Caribbean has been a much better cruise experience IMHO. Although it totally depends on what you are looking for --
Our experiences (we've done Carnival 3 times and Royal Caribbean 2 times and other cruise lines too)
Carnival is much more a party / drinking atmosphere. you will not get 5 feet on the boat without being asked if you want to buy the drink of the day.  The boat is usually a little more lively and the crowd is usually younger, I've noticed a lot more children on these boats (maybe because it is cheaper so more families can afford to go). There will be neon and crazy colors everywhere.

Royal Caribbean still has a fun atmosphere but it is a little less rowdy than Carnival. The crowd is probably a tiny bit older (since it is more expensive I'd guess?) but not super old like Princess. The decorations of these ships seem to be a little more upscale and less crazy vegas feeling. They still definitely have drink of the day and other specials but I didn't feel like the staff was pushing drinking quite as much as they did on Carnival. the food was much better on RC and it seemed like the ships were better kept up on RC (we've had rooms in pretty bad shape on Carnival and public area furniture that looked just plain gross whereas RC always seemed clean and tidy)

disclaimer: We are 30s and have been cruising for a long time. We primarily do active excursions (scuba/eco tours/hiking) and enjoy our fair share of drinking (sometimes more than our fair share). We don't do the booze cruises or stay and drink on the beach type excursions all that often.

If you wanted to get more information about the specific ship you are looking at booking, or even the specific cruise then www.cruisecritic.com will have ALL that information for ya. There is even a message board (much like the knot) where you can see what other folks are posting about weddings and that kind of thing. I'm not trying to send you away, just giving you another avenue for information as I'm not sure how many of our cruise brides are checking in regularly right now :)

Welcome, good luck and stick around!!!!
