Wedding Dress Carry-on

I'm having a destination wedding and I'm traveling on US Air....the garment bag size requirement is 51in (24x21x6 for eg) which seems small.  Any advice or suggestions??

I just carried my dress on in it's garment bag. Had to put it across luggage in the overhead compartment.

Also, depending on the material of your dress and if you will be able to get it steamed when you arrive, you can pack it in a air tight bag...one that compresses the items (the name escapes me at the moment).  Not sure if this would be good for all dress materials, you don't want to be a wrinkled mess on your wedding day!

I did the same as Kimmy. I had it steamed when I got to Hawaii along with hubby's suit.

I think what you're thinking of is space bags! This idea still baffles me but I heard it works well..

lol! yea i'm just going to do what kimmy did and lay it across the luggage in the overhead...unless by some miracle we are bumped to first class and the captain gives us his closet to use ;-)
