Hi all. I didn't have a DW per se, but I'm hoping some of your experiences might be helpful. DH is Chilean, and we got married in Chile in March (we live here). People don't change their names in Chile, so nothing on our marriage license refers to me as Emily HisLast - it's all Emily MaidenLast. I've heard from friends who've gotten married in CA that their marriage licenses include a space for their new names.
Have you changed your name using a foreign marriage license that only refers to you by your maiden name? I know that to randomly change your name is a different process, but I don't know if a license showing that I'm married to someone with the new last name I want is enough or whether the fact that it doesn't specifically call me Emily NewLast means I'd have to petition the court.
