Past brides (and everyone!)

Am I being a control freak.  I'm burning CD's and wondering if I can fit them in my carryon in case my luggage gets lost.  I'm also considering bringing the rings in carry-on as well... but if i keep going like this, I'll be lugging my dress and TONS of other stuff through the airport.  What is important to carry-on (other than the dress) and what should I be ok checking?  I'm becoming a worry-wart.  Hellllp me.

And will I have room for my peanut m&m's?  :)

Re: Past brides (and everyone!)

  • I'd say definitely put the rings in your carry-on, and the CD's could probably be checked.  They are important to you, but if they do get lost, nobody else will notice (and it would probably be the least of your worries!).

  • Yup, rings with you, but cd's should get checked.  If they get lost, you can just send them with your Thank Yous.  :)
  • rings are a must in carry on...with the peanut m&m's. I would think the CDs would br ok packed.

  • I agree rings are definitely carry-on, cds are checkable. I carried on my dress, and I had a huge purse/bag that had my purse, camera, rings, iPods, snacks, water, and a couple other things I can't remember. In DH's carry-on suitcase I had my wedding binder and a lot sandals that wouldn't fit in the suitcases. HTH!

  • I agree with all above.  I am not letting those rings out of my sight!  Although those CD's are important they are not the MOST important..just be sure to pack them very well!!

I am making sure I am carrying on the following:

    Purse with money
    Dress
    Rings
    Paperwork and information
    Book and iphone
Blow up pillows to sleep with

Other than that nothing is CRUCIAL!

  • Well, call me crazy but I took everything we needed for the wedding on the plane with me aside from favors.  These things included:

    - Wedding related documents (birth certificates, etc) including all correspondence with WC, must take photo list, hair photos
    - All jewelry including hair accessory
    - Wedding day make-up
    - Dress, undergarments, shoes and grooms attire
    - Ipod for reception (I also burned CDs with all of the songs incase our Ipod didn't work and also the ceremony music incase something happened with the steel band)

I think that's it.  Also, I ALWAYS back a bathing suit in my carry-on.  I've had my luggage get lost before.

  • I would not check rings. They go through international luggage randomly and they might not take a bunch of blank looking cds but i'd be willing to be either the security people wouldn't hesitate either on our side or on your destination side incoming.
  • We actually wore our rings until we got to the hotel room and locked them in the safe.
