St Thomas Question-for those familiar with the island :)

We are trying to finalize our plans to get married in St. Thomas in February.  We plan on staying at the Frenchman's Reef.
We are looking into the possibly getting married on Lindquist Beach...how long would it take to get there from the hotel?
Thanks in advanced!

Re: St Thomas Question-for those familiar with the island :)

  • Hello, I am getting married in St. Thomas also!  I am no help with your question as I am getting married at the Wyndham.  But, we do have a fellow knottie that actually lives in St. Thomas.  Dew, she will help help you :)

  • Yay, Congratulations! Have you been to St. Thomas before?  I almost chose the Wyndham, but Frenchman's Reef was having a better deal for when we are going down.  Are you getting married at the resort? It was my original plan to get married at the resort, but then my destination wedding specialist told me it would be cheaper and more unique to get married off-site....I am trying to price places to see if this is actually true.

  • I have never been, that was one of the reasons why we chose to have the wedding there.  We are getting married and staying at the Wyndham because it was cheaper to stay for us, I didn't look at packages between the resorts though.

It might be cheaper to have the wedding off site, it just really depends on the packages and everything.  It does cost a lot to transport everyone around the island though because taxi and shuttle services are very pricey.  So, you might be better off getting married at the resort.  We are getting married at the Wyndham because my wedding coordinator told me about the taxi situation and said I really wouldn't save much by going somewhere else.

I actually have my family staying in the Villas at the frenchman's.

  • Dew, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
Thanks! It is hard to plan when you have no familiarity with the island! I am hiring a wedding planner from the island though, but am still waiting on quotes, etc.  Out of the two beaches what is the difference between them? Also, are there any laid back, fun restaurants nearby for the reception after, possibly with music (we are getting married on a Tuesday, if that matters).
    Thanks for everything :)

  • I will let you know in about 2 weeks, I leave for St Thomas in 9 days and staying at the Marriott, but we are getting married on Magen's Bay. I will let you know all about the Marriott when I return though!
