XP: Decorating Advice Needed!

Ok, so I have figured out A LOT about the reception, I have my aisle runner and aisle decorations for the aisle, but realized I'd put NO thought into the altar itself! hahaha

So here's the space undecorated that we're using:

I made my own aisle runner:

This is what I'm on the end chair of each row down the aisle. It will be red and white roses with a black satin sash:

This is the picture the resort gave us of a previous wedding there, but I REALLY don't like the fabric draped over it. We love the wood of the gazebos and that, I feel, is like hiding it:

I was googling last night and found a picture from a blog that showed another wedding at the same location which I thought was really pretty, but lacked something, not sure what:

Our colours, for those that might not know, are red, black and white. Red roses are the central theme of the wedding. Any ideas/inspiration pictures of what I might be able to do with the alter? I wonder if what I feel is 'missing' on this picture is just because their flowers aren't as bold as what we're doing, and the red roses would stand out a bit more? Hmm... just not sure....

TIA!

  • I feel that the last picture needs some sort of floral swag across the top of the gazebo. I think that all of the othe rflorals are pulling the focus down towards the grounds and that having flowers on top will pull it back up. I am with you though I dont really like the fabric draped on the gazebo.

I agree that the red roses will definately bring it out more. Those flowers just seem to blend in with the greens surrounding the area. I like what Cathy suggested, maybe a swag or vines of red roses would look nice on the gazebo. I don't like the fabric either. It's nice for a different setting, but I don't like it there.

  • What time is the wedding? There are always lights to bring it out.

I think doing white roses with red ones in the middle might be nice....or vice versa. Not sure how layering poms might look from the gazebo but that is an option as well. If you like the wood, I would keep it simple. The surroundings seem to be providing their own theme so I don't think you need to go overboard.

  • How beautiful ! I think white roses would be beautiful here and really go with the setting. If it is nighttime lights are always nice on a gabezo. I agree...do not like that drape. But you could incorporate some drapery along the poles or something if you really wanted ? I found these pics :

I definitely think some sort of garland or something, with the roses, along the top would look great :) Thanks ladies!
