July 2012 Weddings

July 7, 2012

Hello all,
My name is Kori ive been on the knot for a month now but I just started looking at this board especially for us :) You all seem so nice and I'm excited to a part of this board.
Right now i'm 18 (i know seems really young) but I'll be 19 next month so 20 doesn't seem too young of an age to get married... Does it? I'm a undergrad going for my BA in psychology.
My FIs name is Loren... ok well  technically he hasnt propsed yet, but my  mom gave us her wedding ring and it is in the process of being sized (she got a new one). Loren works as a car salesman right now but he wants to be a physical trainer someday, hes 20 and will be 22 when we get married.
July 7 was  random date... well a random one that didn't conflict with other fun stuff like birthdays... We wanted at first to get married this July, but after actually thinking about it, we decided to wait and have a 'real' wedding, which I am so thankful we did. Our wedding colors are green and blue but were not real sure of what shades yet, I think we want a darker blue and lighter green.
I have started a wedding bio    http://www.theknot.com/ourwedding/KoriArchuleta&LorenMontano so if anybody wants to check it out and let me know what could be better or any suggestions that worked for you I'd really appreciate it! Right now its under construction, I'm just playing around with the settings and stuff so just keep that in mind please.
As I said I'm real excited to get to know you gals and Congrats!

Re: July 7, 2012

  • Welcome KoriA! I'm getting married July 7, 2012 too! The ladies on this board are great and you will get lots of great advice. Do you know when your boyfriend plans on proposing? How long have you two been dating? I'm having a great time planning my wedding and I have learned so much from all the great Knotties out there. Looking forward to sharing ideas!
  • Thanks Fancie! No I don't! Actually I told him to make it a suprise, I don't really want to know when hes going to propose, I rather enjoy the suspense :)... We've been dating for a year and 4 months, but we've been good friends for about 3 years before then. The only reason we are starting to plan before we are engaged is because I'm catholic and he's christian, so we have to figure out all this religious stuff which is going to take a while apparently.

  • I hear you with regard to the religious stuff, Kori. I am Catholic but my FI comes from a non-observant Jewish family and was raised secular (for lack of a better way to describe it). We decided that  we would have a non-denominational Christian ceremony and then decide what we were going to do with regard to finding a church later. I don't know if that's an option for you guys but when you start looking for an officiant, there are lots that are really good at personalizing ceremonies to suit the two of your beliefs.

  • Hello,

I have been lurking but I wanted to come out  and say hi. I'm also getting married in July 7, 2012. I'm a very organized person and most of the big stuff is already taken care of. I've noticed so many brides stress when they wait to the last minute so if you start planning early you can truly enjoy the journey.

  • Hey Kori!!  Welcome to the board!!  We're a great group of girls on here!!

I actually started out on TK without being engaged as well!  I knew it was coming, didn't know when though!!  We gathered ideas of what we wanted and what we didn't want.  Of course our minds have changed within the past 2 years, but its been fun.  I'm just glad we finally get to plan full fledge!  I am Catholic as well and FI isn't very religious.  We're having a non-denominational ceremony.  We're writing our own ceremony for the most part.

Happy Planning!! It will definitely be fun!  Relax and enjoy the experience!  It goes by fast!

  • Thank you all!
I can't wait to get married, a year seems so far away! But I believe you that it'll go by quickly.
We are planning on getting married in the church, we still have to do all those pre cana classes and whatnot, Oh dear I'm nervous to see what those are gonna be all about.

  • Hi Everyone,

I am trying to book my venue for July 7th and someone else has it on hold so I am hoping I do get to have it on the 4th of July weekend!I have just started my planning and will be pushing it by planning a wedding in 7 months. I have been engaged for several years but woke up one morning and said I am ready to get married!
  • Welcome to the board!  I'm getting married the 14th and have almost all the big stuff done, but I've done most of it in a couple months so don't worry.  The church stuff wasn't much of an issue with FI and I.  I was raised Protestant and he is a confirmed Catholic, we already did the precana classes and are good to go for our Catholic ceremony at the church.  We were able to do the classes in a weekend so they didn't take up much time but they are only offered a handful of times of the year and I work weekends for 4 months of the year doing taxes so those were all out.
