Fun Inexpensive Philly Restaurants

So this may get confusing... but any suggestions would be really helpful.

March 4th, my mom is have an engagement party at the Concordville Inn for me and my fiancee.  She is having a brunch and the bridal party and family are invited.

However, since most of our bridal party is from out of town, we wanted to go out in the city the night before.

My fiancee and I wanted to take them out to dinner.  The total guests attending dinner would be twelve total.  I'd like to keep the dinner under $500 dollars, this would include drinks as well.  Any suggestions that would be fun for 20 somethings in Philly that are relatively inexpensive?  Maybe Olde City or
Northern Liberties?

Thanks for your help!

  • Why don't you try one of the BYOs in Old City or No Libs, like La Locanda del Ghittone, Radicchio, or (if you like Mexican food) Pura Vida.  If you spent $75-100 on alcohol to bring, you'd have $30-35 per person for dinner, which should work at those places.  And if you do Pura Vida, you can bring tequila or rum and they'll mix it to make margaritas or mojitos.

  • Oh, and if you like sushi, Sushi Planet on 4th by South is one of my faves for a group.  BYO and would likely be within the budget.  I think they give you sake at the end of the meal, too, if I'm not mistaken.

  • If you don't want to go the BYO route try Fork in Old City or Bar Ferdinand in Northern Liberties. We did a bachelorette dinner at Bar Ferdinand and they did a group thing $25 or $30 pp and we were stuffed by the end. It is tapas so you could have them adjust how many different plates come out.  But how much you spend will greatly depend on how much everyone drinks.

  • Lauren and Jelly bean,

Thanks so much for your ideas!  I can't wait to go home tonight and look over the menus and options with my fiancee!
  • Let me also suggest Jones Restaurant in Center City, a couple of blocks away from Independence Hall.  It's a Stephen Starr place that serves comfort food and has Brady-style green shag carpet.  It's delish, and a really good value for where it is in the city and the name it has.
  • PYT or Dos Segundos in No Libs are both good too.  PYT is fun with burgers and adult milkshakes! Very reasonable...

  • Awesome, thank you so much! You've all been a great help and have now made me very hungry!
