AWWWW - Today was the day!

This morning FI and I went down to city hall and got legally married!

He works across the street from city hall so I drove him to work... we got married and he went to the office and I came in to mine... LOL there were some couples there all dressed up and taking pics and we just walked in and out...lol...

Now 2 weeks until our REAL wedding day!!!!

Hi! Congratulations! We went to apply for our marriage license yesterday and will officially be married next Friday, I really don't want any of our guests to know we are doing it this way (i know its not a big deal but i feel some guests may think is)and my MOH who was our witness yesterday was asking so many questions about the process!! Do you know if she will need to sign as our witness again next week or can we have someone else do it? Who did you use as witnesses? Thanks!!

Kthomp725 - I'm not sure how it is in NJ, but in Chicago we didn't need any witnesses for the license or the marriage. We went last week to get the licnense and we just had to wait at least 24 hours to use it. Then today we went in front of the judge. She said a few words, then signed our license and said congrats. We were there for like 2 minutes. We can pick up our official certificate in 7 days.

We won't tell anyone that we did it this way. To us this was just a step in the paperwork in order to get married on the 29th.

You should check to see if you really need witnesses present. good luck and congrats!
