Final Dress Fitting

So today I had what was supposed to be my last dress fitting...  The dress on the hanger looked BEAUTIFUL...  but when I put it on...it didn't feel as great as it did that last few times I put it on.  I don't know if I'm just stressing or what...

Some of the issues...  The hem was a little off... it was longer on one side than the other.  The bustle needed more ties to be added..  BUT the two things that worry me the most are 1... the bust area still didn't fit right.  when I relaxed it felt big...like you could look down my dress and from the side it was WAY obvious that it still needed to be taken in.  It almost looked like she forgot to do that part...  AND the worst part...  the dress was SUPER tight! it hooked and zipped up, but I felt like my back looked smushed! She said she didn't take it in at all and I don't think I gained that much weight!  She was going to see if there was anything she can do, but she suggested I was very careful with what I ate for the next two weeks and that maybe I'm just holding a little more water weight than the first time I went in.

Needless to say...I'm worried!  She said she was going to fix what needed to be fixed and that I didn't need another fitting and I could just go pick it up on the 22nd.  As I sit and think about it, I don't want to go pick it up and find out on the morning of my wedding it still doesn't fit right!  I'm going to try and call the store tomorrow and see if I can go in and try it on before I take it home... even if that means I need to take 2 trips (the store is 1 1/2 hours from my house :( not fun!).

For the next 1 1/2 weeks I will be following a strict diet and working out and walking/running as much as I can.  I think if I can at least lose 5 pounds my dress will fit a lot better...

Talk about stress!

I have no pics to share because they aren't as pretty as the ones from my first fittings :(

I would def try it on again, I wish I did! You want to make sure you can zip it and that the top doesn't feel too big. I hated the fact that I had to keep pulling my top up. I'm sure it's prob water weight, just do like you said and watch what you'll eat and I'm sure it will be fine. That dress is beautiful and I can't wait to see you in it!!

  • I agree, it will be fine and that dress looks awesome on you!  I would definitely try it on again before you take it home from the shop and make sure that they have it exactly the way you want it!!!

  • I would try it on again too.  I mean I could probably deal with some tightness but I wouldn't want anyone being able to look down my dress.  I am sure that you were just as beautiful yesterday than the last time!!  :)

  • Just take a deep breath and it'll be ok!! You are going to look amazing and it will fit great... :) It is probably water weight, have you been eating a lot of salt lately? Stay away from that stuff!

That is so upsetting!! Do not worry they will fix it and you will look gorgeous!! That dress was made for you! I fell in love with those pics of it and all your guests will too! Another tip, eat no carbs - it is the hardest thing to do but makes the biggest difference in the diet. Watch what type of fruits you eat (example grapes can cause you to retain water, I had no idea) try and cut out most salt too. Good luck! My dress was too big too (from bust to hips, so I didn't get that nice 6 inch V shape when the corset got tied, more like an inch), when I went for my final fitting she's like did you loose more weight, I'm like no I gained some and i had been eating badly. I really don't think my seamstress brought it in between the second and dirt fitting either. It was fine except for the TTD my husband had to keep pulling it up for me (too heavy to do myself!). And that was ties as tight as it could go, so definitely be aware of it for your TTD!!

  • Oh, no! I'm so sorry! You have to try it on before you leave the store. Cuz if it doesn't fit you will need to sit there and wait while they fix it. I'm not kidding. They need to get it right and not make you drive back and forth- again. Don't worry, it will work out and you will look amazing!!
  • Absolutely try it on before you leave the store! You are paying good money for the dress, and they should have it fit your perfectly!! Don't settle for anything less than what you want :)

Try not to stress about the weight! Just eat clean, exercise everyday, drink a lot of water and you will look STUNNING on your big day :)

  • Thanks for the encouragement ladies!!!!  I'm going to call them as soon as they open today to make sure they know I"m going to try it on again before they package it to go.  I want this dress to be perfect!

I think my body is weird... yesterday morning I weighed in 4 lbs heavier than I did this morning!  I'm just going to suck it up and be super strict on myself for the next 2 weeks... it's going to be hard but worth it.

Now I kind of wish my dress was a corset back so I at least have the option of making it tighter or not...lol...

  • If you are very careful with what you eat and workout you'll shed quite a bit. Avoid processed foods, salty foods, etc. Your body will thank you for it ;)
  • No worries Jen. It'll be fine!

  • This is exactly what just happened to me.  I actually weighed less now then when I bought the dress.  It was water and the fact it was so hot outside it made me swell a bit.  Had my dress on this weekend again and haven't lost any weight and it fit loose.  Everything will work out!  I was freaking out too but it all worked out!!
