Catholic Caribbean

My fiance and I really want to get married in the Caribbean, perhaps the USVI or the Bahamas, but it's also important to us that we get married in the Catholic Church.  We are having trouble finding resorts that can coordinate this.  Any ideas?

Re: Catholic Caribbean

  • I've heard of brides getting married in a church and then going away and doing it on an island again. Or if that's not something you wanted to do maybe ask the resorts for churches nearby that you can call and get information.

  • We were considering a destination church before finding our resort. I would suggest as PP said, get contact info from a resort of the local churches and start calling to see if you can find one that will. It will depend on each church's rules as to who they will marry (I know some won't without knowing you and where you are with your faith for example).
  • I am having a catholic wedding in Mexico, and thankfully the resort we are staying at has a chapel and offers a catholic wedding package. Regardless of where you get married, of your records including premarriage and counseling can be sent to the church that will marry you.  As far as finding a church, I would contact all Catholic churches in the area. You can also ask your parish to help you. They could possible contact the churches and get more information that can help you. Good luck, and happy destination planning .  :)

  • forgot to tell you that St Maarten has a absolutely precious Catholic church on the beach.  It is located right in town.  I originally wanted to get married there, but we wanted an all inclusive resort.
