Airfare & hotel = about $1500

Shower gift $150

Is a wedding gift expected as well?

Re: Caribbean DW question

  • Many of us are not expecting gifts and consider our guests presence at the wedding a gift...that being said some of us have registered because there are guests that would like to get you a gift either in addition to attending the wedding or if they can't make it to the wedding.  I spread the word about our registry through our wedding website that I created on weebly.com (for free!).  People kept asking me where I was registered b/c they wanted to get a gift since they will not make it to the wedding, so I finally created a registry at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and Macys :-)  Allows for a broad price range of gifts :-)

  • Ditto Julyet.

I don't want gifts, but people have been asking us to register and where we were registered for months, so we did it.

My SIL wanted to have a shower for us, but my step-mom put the kabbosh on that. The girls from work wanted to throw one for me, which I think is incredibly sweet. My own family won't even have one. LOL.
  • I attended a DW in Mexico earlier in the year, and still got them a present, although I spent less than I might have if it were in town. I also did not attend a shower or anything.

That being said, I don't expect any gifts. I know people are taking time, effort, and money to attend. We registered because people were asking. If no one at all got us a gift I'd be fine. I don't have enough space in my tiny house for the things we already have.
