Destination Wedding/ Reception at home after question....

We are having a small intimate destination wedding.  After we return home, we are having a huge open house/party with all our friends and family memebers who weren't able to attend the wedding.  My question is do I where my dress again at the open house/party?  I thought I had seen this in the past and was planning on wearing my dress again for a while anyway but my MIL thinks this is strange and doesn't know why I would want to do this.  Any opinions would be helpful.  Thanks!

I'm doing an open house reception and i don't think its weird to wear your dress again. I'm not but that's because I plan to TTD in Mexico. Plus I already found the cutest cocktail dress! I love having two events because that way I can have to completely different looks! I'm going to have video and photo slide show playing on a loop on our big screen TV so everyone will get to see me in my ceremony dress but I'll get to be relaxed and kick it up with my cocktail reception dress! YAY!

I'm planning to wear my dress for our AHR 2 months after our wedding. I think many people will be excited to see you in it! Who cares what FMIL thinks

I wearing a different dress to the AHR.  I bought a bridesmaid dress (though different from the one that my bridesmaid will be wearing at the wedding) in white...it has a little bit of a train on it as well, so it works out perfectly!

We are having a small wedding in St Thomas and 3 weeks later having a reception at home. I will be in my dress!!! I can't wait to wear it twice!!

I didn't want to wear my dress again to our AHR. Even though I love my dress I was freaking out about timing and getting home from our honeymoon and not having time to get it cleaned for our AHR. On easter, my brother and FMIL ganged up on me so I will be wearing my dress again. They said the whole family will want to see me in it and for pictures and stuff, so i do agree about that.

I wore mine again for our AHR because I could!  And not many brides can say that.

Thanks for all the opinions!!  I will definately wear it again for a while at least, I am so anxious to wear it for the wedding, to wear it again a second time will be just as exciting!!
