Question about Turks and Caicos Wedding Laws

In doing some research, the information that I found noted that you had to be in T&C for at least 3 days before you could even apply for a wedding license.  It seemed that it then took a couple more days of processing before you could even have the ceremony.  Is this true?

Couple of questions:

- Is this waiting period actually true (i.e. you have to be there for roughly a week before you can get your marriage certificate)?
- Is the marriage certificate recognized in the US?

I would really love to get married in T&C but am not interested in having to make it a two week long process and having concerns about turnaround times on waiting periods, etc.  Any advice from folks that have made this happen would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks, ladies!

Re: Question about Turks and Caicos Wedding Laws

  • You have to be on the island for 24-hours before you submit your application.  Then you have to wait 2 days.  So if you arrive on a Tuesday (like me and my fiance are), the earliest you can marry is Sunday.
