are you using themed postage???

HI Ladies,

I went to the post office last week to see what they have for stamps. I have post card RSVP's and all they have for post card stamps is polar bears. Polar bears? Really? For a summer, Cape Cod wedding? I know it's just a stamp, but the lengths we go to to have a theme, this sticks out to me as not going with our beach theme. I don't have any idea what to do to find cuter postage.

For the invites, the standard 44 cent stamps will work for me so I have the choice between wedding rings, wedding cake, and purple pansies that say love on them (purple is one of our colors). I'm not sure if I have a preference between those.

What did/are you ladies using for postage? Is it themed? How/where did you find it? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

TIA!

Re: are you using themed postage???

  • Invites-I used the purple pansies and I actually used them for the postcard postage too. I wasn't going to do postcards at first and then ended up doing postcards but already had the stamps...now I have like 20 leftover stamps... oh well... I would have done it differently had I planned better. Good thing I didn't have that many invites or that would have been a ton of wasted cash.

For the STDs I just used regular stamps. I'm not that picky but when I did the invites, I happened to drive by a post office on an errand day and decided why not. I highly reccommend doing invites first and then go buy stamps... learning lesson.

  • For my STD's I used the purple pansies that say love on them, because it was one of our colors also.

You might be able to find something online for your RSVP's I'm not sure how much time you have.

That kinda stinks about the polar bear stamps.  Before the postage rate increase, there were 27 cent tropical fruit stamps that were really cute for postcards.  I would consider just using more expensive postage that fit your theme better or doing custom stamps for your postcard RSVPs.

Our invites were pretty heavy so we couldn't use standard postage.  I decided on the 62 cent dragonfly stamps, but I don't think they're available anymore.

For our RSVPs, we used the 44 cent king and queen of hearts stamps.

Have you seen the lighthouse stamps?  They may work better with your theme.  I also like the kelp forest stamps.

Edit: I usually buy my stamps online through USPS.com rather than getting it from the post office.  Our local post office usually has a pretty pathetic selection of stamps in stock, but the online site has every stamp that is currently in production.

  • I actually had postage made that matches my invitations.  They are really awesome!

  • I just used the regular ones, I wanted the love stamps but my post office was out at that time and I waited too long to wait any longer, so that's what I got!

I totally used the polar bear stamps for our RSVP postcards.  I don't think anybody cared; polar bears are cute!
