Good Tuesday Morning!

Good Morning, Ladies!

How is everyone doing today? How's the wedding planning and holiday shopping going? Do we have anyone here who doesn't celebrate Christmas? Do you celebrate another holiday or no holidays?

I'm feeling good today! Day 2 of Paleo and going strong.  I'll write more about it in accountability.

I have work all day. Going to finish up my monthly report. After work I'm going to head home to spend time with Drew, my daughter and our animals. I honestly can't wait to just be home and spend the night with them. Going to go for a walk tonight instead of going to the gym since we haven't been getting any rain.  Gotta take advantage of it while we can!

Re: Good Tuesday Morning!

  • Hey, at work here still as well. I just got an email from FI saying a package arrived, and the name on it. Had to demand he didn't open it... as the name told me ITS HIS CUFFLINKS!!! Yay!!!! Can't  wait to see how they turned out! I will AW them when I get a chance to go home and take pictures :)
  • Good Morning!
I am at work al well.  Hopefully for the full day.  This is the first morning in awhile that I didn't wake up with a head ache so that is great!
I was going to finish my Christmas shopping by ordering my FI a Kindle Fire but it turns out I forgot my purse at home somehow so I don't have a credit card.  I really don't know where my head is some days!
My grandkids are going to be so excited on Christmas.  The doll house and play kitchen we ordered them arrived yesterday.  Can't wait.  Little kids make Christmas so much fun.
We are going to do a family Christmas tree hunt on Sunday.  We will get a tree for my house, my mother's house and my 2 married daughter's houses.  After the hunt we will have a birthday party for my baby who is turning 18!! My God I feel old!

    Have a great day everyone!

  • Morning, gals! Steve's off to Qatar so it's just me and Sherlock for the next two weeks. I got to Skype with Steve earlier this morning at work. It was nice to see his face :)

We celebrate Christmas with our families, but I'm not sure what we're going to do when we have kids. We are both atheists so it feels hypocritical and stupid to celebrate a Christian holiday even if it's just the gift giving, Santa Claus and snowman version. I think that we may choose to do it differently when we have kids. I don't want to lie to them about Santa Claus either, so we'll see. I know some families that celebrate the winter solstice or do gift giving around New Years instead, so maybe we'll adapt something like that. Who knows?
  • Its a full blown nativy scene setting up, church service attending Christmas at our house. FI was raised in the church, fell away from it but recently came back around. I just started attending church about a year ago, and only bought in starting in the spring, so its my first chance to be all in with it, rather than last year where I just kinda went along with his family :)

  • Hello all, I wish this month was over. Too much going on. My sister found another blood clot on her FIs CT scan from Sunday. (she's an ultrasound tech). He will need another MRI ASAP so not sure how my night is gonna go. If he gets admitted again I may be heading to the hosp. Hope you all have a good day

  • Today is work.  I'm done with almost everything I need to get done today.  Tomorrow is a holiday lunch at one of our favorite restaurants.  That should be fun.  Tonight we are going to hopefully get our tree and put it up.  I am really excited.

Wedding wise, FI & I are still heavily leaning towards Florida and the a honeymoon in St. Lucia.  We are also leaning towards getting married in October instead of July.  It will give us more time to save and our honeymoon will be about $1k less too.

We celebrate Christmas.  On Christmas Eve we go to FI's family for dinner and then I think that we are going to mine for dessert.  Then Christmas day we open our presents together and then we are going over to his mom's house.  I think that I want to try to get to see my parents that day too.  On the 26th my step sister and her hubby are coming down and we will do Christmas with them, (not looking forward to this part).  So we got lots of places to go!!

  • Kimmy – I know how you feel, I have days like that too (who am I kidding, it’s pretty much every day!) where I just want to go home and hang out with FI and our kitties.

Britt – Yay! Can’t wait to see the pics.

Rmontpas – The family Christmas tree hunt sounds so fun! And I loved my play kitchen when I was little – great gift!

Brea – Totally love the name Sherlock for your kitty! How is he adjusting?

I am almost done with Christmas shopping! I bought a big chunk of FIs this morning and just need to pick something up from Best Buy next week. I always fret over what to buy him because if he likes something, he buys it. I know what I’m getting for the rest of the people on my list and just need to get it. I am also going to pick up my ornament for the exchange tomorrow and mail it out (I was hoping to today but ran out of time at lunch!).

FI and I have never spent Christmas together and I think we are going to start next year once we’re married, where we’ll go to his parents for Christmas and then mine for New Year’s and then switch the next year. We always celebrate it the weekend before with a show and dinner, and then exchange gifts the night before we go. We are going to see the Nutcracker this year – we haven’t seen it for a few years and I’m excited to see it in Brooklyn! And then we got an awesome deal for this restaurant for brunch that we’ll go to the next day.

  • Sherlock is doing great. He's a little lovebug. He loves to cuddle :) He's obviously getting a little bored being home alone and is incredibly playful when I get home each day. He's a sweet little boy though. He lights up my life!
  • I love reading all your status messages and stuff about Sherlock Brea :) It makes me so happy! I have always been pretty heavily involved in our local humane society, so anytime I hear of a shelter pet get such a loving home it brings a smile to my face :)
  • Britt- Looking forward to hearing how the cufflinks came out!

Rmont- SOunds like lots of fun.

Brea- 2 weeks is a long time. Good thing you have Sherlock to keep you company.

Cathy- St. Lucia sounds like a great place for a honeymoon.

Lora- I can't believe you have never celebrated Christmas with FI when you've been together for 8 years.  That will be so much fun next year!

Aww thanks. He's such a snuggly little boy. We both love him lots. I emailed Steve an update on Sherlock and he responded saying "He's so cute!" and then earlier today when he texted me to say good night (it's already night in Qatar) he told me to tell Sherlock he said hi. I love that he likes Sherlock too! I was worried about that originally since Steve was on the fence about getting a pet to begin with, but he just loves the little guy!
  • Cathy -- Where in FL are you thinking?

Brea -- I think that's a boy cat thing... both of our cats love to cuddle, too! It's the best. :)

Kimmy -- I know, it wears on me more each year that we aren't together... so next year should be fun! :)

  • Lora - My parents have a place in Royal Palm Beach which is a little west of West Palm Beach.  It's about 20 minutes from the beach.  My parents said that we could use there house for any festivities we wanted.  I was even thinking that we could have our "reception" there and have it catered.  Then we could all hang out by the pool and celebrate.  I think that it will work out well.

Oh and I'm with Kimmy, I can't believe that you haven't spend a Christmas with FI yet.  Do your families live far away from each other?

  • Cathy – That sounds like a great plan and a wonderful DW!! Yeah, my family is in a small town in WI and he is from TX… and we live in NY. :) Kind of all over the place. I think a few years down the line we’ll settle down in TX which will definitely make the holidays a lot easier.

  • Cathy- I think that sounds like a great idea, too. When you don't have to pay some place to have your reception, it leaves more money for really great food!
  • Well its not so much Tuesday morning anymore.....

I just sat down to start addressing envelopes and haven't gotten very far. I'm also trying to arrange/coordinate traveling schedules for March.

I don't celebrate Christmas (Jewish!) - however this year we have decided to do both. So he bought me a tree (fake of course - I don't want the mess!) and I decorated it - in blue and silver :). I also hung up stockings, red/white for FI and our dog and mine is blue/white. FI's mom is HUGE on Christmas - like out of hand with the decorating and I think he misses it a bit. Well he's from MI (been here 5 years) and I keep telling him - the holidays in FL are different. It will never feel like Christmas. It was 80 degrees today.

    I love it here.

(she was going to be put down if we didn't, long story)... result? She is totally his cat lol she cuddles with him, rides around on his shoulders all the time, the whole bit lol

    <div>Aww I love that!</div>
  • Its hilarious, anytime he's doing dishes, making dinner, etc (the kitchen is his domain) she is riding around up on his shoulders. If she isn't on his shoulders, she is weaving in around his feet and meowing asking him to pick her up lol
