Where to get dress steamed BEFORE wedding??

Help! So, I have taken my dress to a very very sweet woman for alterations.  Said woman will remain nameless until I have my dress, in one piece and in my possession.  She seems excellent at her job, but is more than a little odd... and last fitting I was there she had a BIRD on her shoulder the WHOLE time she was pinning my dress.  A dirty bird POOPING on her shoulder while she worked on this item of clothing I've spent more on than anything I've ever purchased!!!!!!!!!!!!Today should be the final fitting, and she has someone who comes in once a week to steam / press the dresses before pickup, but I'm too scared to leave my dress here.  I want securely hanging in my bird-free apartment.  Where can a girl get her dress professionally steamed before her big day?????

Any good dry cleaner should be able to steam it for you.  I suggest you call around and see who can do it in time for the wedding.

What about the bridal shop where you purchased your dress?

I'm in SF and the shop is about 2 hours south in Campbell... I'll look into cleaners, nearby...

I am in SF too... look at Lombard French Cleaners on Clumbus adn Lombard.  There is also a French Cleaners on Hyde and Union.  I just do not suggest that you get alterations at the first place I suggested.  Not so hot in that dept. or at least for jeans.  Another suggestiong... Call Nordstorms personal shopper and ask for suggestions in the city.  I am sure they can help you... I have heard of people going to them for help on special events and I guess they are great.

I bought my dress at the SF Priscilla of Boston, but brought it to Novella Bridal on Maiden Lane for alterations (she used to do all of the PoB dresses when they were sold at Alexandra Bridal). She steamed my dress for me. Maybe you can call and see if she'll do steam only?

Thank you all so much for the advice and support.  I wish I'd discovered this board more than 18 days before my wedding!  I could have used all of your input this whole time!-steph
