Candy Buffet Dilema...

Ok ladies, i need ur suggestions!!The FI and I plan on having a candy buffet... we have a HUGE guest list, about 450! My mom is concerned about how all those ppl are gonna be able to get up and make a candy bag. We know that not EVERYBODY is going to get a bag (one per couple and no kids) but my mom asking made me concerned too! Now i'm wondering how this will work?? Is the buffet "open" throughout the entire reception? Should we go table by table? Mom suggested, making the candy bags beforehand and jus pass those out, what do u think? HELP!!

I've seen a candy buffet just once. It was set up in the reception area and was available the entire time, with the bags placed on the same table. I think it was better that way, rather than shuttling tables/groups of people over systematically. People came and went as they pleased and it was great!

I went to a wedding with a pretzel buffet.  They had it open the entire time.    If you have that many people, I would try to make several candy stations somewhat spread out.  I would put bags at each station.  Plus I would make it accessible on both sides.  Also, I would plan for more than 1 bag per couple.

Entire time sounds like the best idea.

Ours was open the entire time, with bags on the table.  We had a DOC to refill the jars and keep things moving.  I would definitely not count on people taking only one bag of candy per couple.  I would DEFINITELY not count on kids not taking a bag.  People seemed CRAZY about our candy buffet.  Like, I'm sure they would have taken multiple bags EACH if they could have.  I can all but guarantee that unless you have someone standing guard to police it, people will take a bag a piece of the candy.  And they'll munch along the way too.  And unless you have candy for all 450 people, you're going to run out early on.  I think the pre-made bags of candy would work.  Or, just make sure to have enough.  Good luck!!

At the candy buffet I went to, it was open during the cocktail hour and the entire reception. I noticed most people went during cocktail hour. A lot of adults however didn't really do it so it was mostly younger people going back and forth. But if you keep it open I doubt people will rush the buffet...

I think the only way to ensure everyone gets one is to either1. buy a lot of candyor 2. premake the bags.I think premaking the bags - would probably be the best way to go. You can leave a small buffet out if anyone wants to enjoy some at the reception.

You could have two stations to split up the room, making it easier for guests to go to the station...I like the idea of having guest look for their favorite candies rather than giving them bags....best of luck

Ooooh, that's a good idea too strawberry... split it up so it doesn't get too hectic ;)
