Thank you notes before the wedding?

My wedding is 18 days out and I'm beginning to receive many gifts.  Is it okay to send my thank you notes after I get back from my honeymoon?  Since it's still a few weeks out, do you think guests expect thank you's or acknowledgment right away?

18 days! Exciting! Good luck! I'm waiting to send thank you cards to guests that attended our wedding because I wanted to include a picture of them from the wedding. For guests that declined but sent gifts, we sent thank you cards right away.

I think the usual "rule" is that if it's before two weeks before the wedding, you should send a thank you.  If it's during the 2 weeks before, at, or after the wedding, you have until a month (i think?) after the honeymoon.  At 18 days out, I would totally wait.  I probalby waited on all that I got a month before (since I had post-wedding thank you stationary...new name and all taht).  I think you're totally safe to wait.Congrats!  18 days...getting close, so exciting!  Have fun!

I like to send out thank you notes right away. Our wedding is 10 weeks away and we've already received gifts so I don't want to wait 10 weeks plus the two weeks of our honeymoon to send them out... that's like 3 months later! But you're 18 days out so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Personally I would send them though.

I'm hoping we don't get gifts until later; it just occured to me that our t/y's state "Mr. and Mrs. Karma"

I asked this question a while ago and got the same answers as you; 2 weeks from receiving the gift before the wedding, then I think 2 or 3 months after the wedding I think? Sending the thank you notes when you get the present before the wedding also gives the guests a relief that you received their gift!

We're date twins! We got a few gifts early on and sent TY's pretty much right away. I decided with everything going on this month though, anything we get in the month of August will have a note sent after the wedding...plus I really want to get TY cards with a picture from the wedding on it:-)

I sent them out as soon as I got a gift. You can wait til after the honeymoon or send them out now. Its easier to just get some out of the way now so they don't stack up..
