Ribbon and Fabric Resources in the Bay Area or San Francisco?

I know that there used to be some good fabric stores in the area with cheap but good looking fabrics and ribbons but I've been out of that world for so long I can't remember any of them.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I'm having a hard time trying to choose things online because the color, texture, etc... isn't always quite right once you see it in person.

    Britex Fabrics on Post (?) right outside Union Sq is a good place to start.

    I'm afraid to start there because I'm always drawn to the pricies stuff in the place.  But they're definitely on the list if I can't find anything else.  I love Britex!

    All my ribbon has come from good ol' Joanns...they have a bigger selection than Michael's even.
