FI has shingles!

So we are 8 days away, and my FI found out this morning that he has shingles! We thought he just had bug bites on his back, but no, they are full blown shingles. They can be/most likely caused by stress, so he gets to not go to work, lounge around and try not to stress out. Lucky him! I'd like to lounge around and forget about all the housework, laundry, and last minute wedding stuff! But he also said it burns like a mother and itches like crazy, so I don't know what's worse.

Hi! I usually dont post...but my boyfriend just got shingles too. Crazy! I was all, who the heck gets shingles! It seems so random, I have never really heard of it before. I guess its like chickenpox but more painful.

FMIL has gotten shingles a few times. The doctor should have provided him with medicine that starts working after a couple of days, and hopefully they will be almost all cleared up by the wedding.

Yeah, the doctor gave him a topical ointment and antibiotics. They say that they can last from 2-4 weeks, so hopefully the meds will help him!

I had them 4 years ago and it sucked! They are so painful. I didn't take medication but did avoid all things stressful (work and school). At least he will be well rested for the honeymoon. Tell him not to rub them or like chicken pox, he will have scars.

Wow shingles sucks!  I got them on my chest about a month after we got engaged.  They do hurt a lot, but the ointment helps.  Even though it takes a couple weeks to go away, the ointment makes them feel better pretty quick even before they are completely gone.  Hope he feels better.  Oh and I got mine from stress.  Normally older people get them, but stress makes them appear in younger people.  The nice thing is they are like chicken pox and once you've had them once you are less likely to get them again.
