videographer?

hi- getting married in livermore and have zero money left over and now starting to rethink having a videographer there to "capture the moment" since everyone we talk to that has gotten married says its a blur and goes by so fast... does anyone know of a videographer that will do basically raw (nothign fancy at all) just like "fly on the wall"/"eye of the guest" type video? seems strange but i feel like in 10 years ill want to watch it, haha :-) i think buying a $200 camcorder and passing it around is kinda weird..and making it one persons responsibilty seems also kinda like not the way to go...any thoughts on this? thanks!!!

I don't have a specific rec, but I have seen videographers who have a reduced price for "unedited" tape or raw footage only. I am not sure if this is only for off season weddings or like Fridays or Sundays, but I can say that it never hurts to ask. I would just call around and find out what they can do for you in your budget. If they have the date open they may work with you. I think videographers are worth every penny so whatever you do get SOME video- even if you have to set it on a tripod.

We met with 4 videographers before booking VideoMagician. Fromthe research I did, most videographers offered a raw footage deal for $500-600. I think Eclipse productions would even go back and edit your footage at a later date if you decided you wanted to edit it.

We had our MOH's boyfriend make our video and it came out great. Maybe see if someone volunteers?

I haven't budgeted for a videographer either - and I've heard it both ways: one friend says they are so glad they got it since the day went by so fast and it was edited beautifully and yada yada.  Others say that they got it and haven't really watched it much. I definitely don't want to feel like I've missed anything - so I'm considering buying a video camera (or asking for one for xmas!) and either tripodding it or having a friend/relative do it.  I know my uncle would be happy to do it.  I think it's a matter of what you want.  It seems silly to pay $500+ for raw footage when you can just ask a friend or a friend of a friend to take care of it and then have the camcorder to record your life together. Good luck!
