Stupid Question

This is probably a stupid question, but what the heck do I do with my dress until the wedding? I got it from DB and they just gave it to me off the rack- Do I leave it at the place I get it altered until the wedding? Does the alteration person usually clean/steam it? Do I take it to a dry cleaner now and then get it altered later or the other way around? It's just hanging in my closet, and will eventually need alterations.... do I need to get it cleaned since it was off the rack..... Thanks in advance for any help- I'm not great at all this bridal stuff! Tammy

    I am not sure, but I will try to answer :) I would only get it cleaned if it looks like it needs to be cleaned. Since it was bought off the rack, there is a definite possibility it may need to be. I would clean it before I alter it. The alterations place won't get it dirty. For steaming, I would do that closer to the wedding so it looks really nice :)I hope this helps...

    Not stupid - but glad you posted this and not me :)  Check out weddingwire.com for nice answers...just saying. What I'm doing based on intuition.  I took my dress to get altered and picking it up next week.  wedding is september 26th so taking it to get stemed the week of the wedding to be picked up 2 days before...then staying OUT of the plastic probably in my office (FI BETTER NOT LOOK!!!) until day before wedding where I'll got to hotel to get ready the day of.
