We're getting married at Eagle Ridge in Gilroy. I know my venue is in that budget and maxes out at 250 so it would work. My venue has associate vendors with their package so I didn't have to look for a dj, florist, or baker. I recommend looking at herecomestheguide.com so she can find a venue that she loves!I do recommend Terra Tabbytosavit for photography!http://terratabbytosavit.com/blog/And Giao Nguyen for makeup and hair.http://giaonguyen.com/Etsy for invitations!www.etsy.com

I'm getting married in Los Gatos so most of my vendors are based out of the South Bay, many from SJ.Venue: Nestldown (I think her wedding might be too big)Florist: Christine Le with Bluume, Palo Alto (very affordable)Cake: Jen's Cakes in San Jose (though I loved Margaret's French Bakery in Campbell too)DJ: Big Fun DJ - based somewhere in the South Bay.Limos: Lonestar TransportationHair and makeup: I'm using my regular hair person from Walnut Creek, Karen Cordill, and she travels. My make up person is Chez Murphy - affordable and great to work with. She's based in Redwood City but travels all over.Invitations: My FMIL made ours, but I used weddingpaperdivas for our save-the-dates and was planning on using them for invitations as well. Pretty affordable and great quality - very quick turnaround. She can view all the options online and order samples too.Photographer: Danielle Gillett, based out of Felton (Santa Cruz area). She is absolutely amazing and travels all over.We don't have a decoration person or a videographer.Good luck to your friend!

Definitely check out Here Comes the Guide - www.herecomestheguide.com.  It is awesome and will tell you how many people a venue holds and have a ball park cost.  Reception venue: Los Gatos Opera House holds 250, but not really more.  There were lots of other places though that I found from the website above that I liked.Florist - My florist is on the more expensive side and based out of SF (An Added Touch - love her work!!), but I have heard from friends that this place is great and affordable http://twg.initsoft.com/. It's called The Wild Geranium and is located in Los Gatos.Cake - We are using Sweet Passions, which is San Jose on Alum Rock Ave..  Super reasonable and awesome cake (they have a cupcake kiosk at Valley Fair)!  I have also heard that Jen's Cakes is very good and fairly priced.Photographer - We're using Ron Griggs - http://www.mirrorimagephoto.net/. Again, very affordably priced and you get a lot with each package.

PS - my venue can hold up to like 700 so it would definately work but we're using it for reception only since we are having a catholic ceremony at the Santa Clara University Mission Church.

DO NOT use Christine with Bluume, I had a horrible experience with her which I will be posting more about later.  She was sweet at first but difficult to get a hold of, nonresponsive in the weeks before the wedding, late in finishing the contract then blamed me for the last minute payment and demanded a cashiers check, was awful to me the day before and at my wedding.  The flowers themselves?  eh.  Pretty skimpy compared to what we had discussed.  Don't know if that was because she was pissed at me or if that's her usual game.  Oh and she's been in the middle of a "location move" for months and months, her excuse for not having a real shop where you can meet or see examples of her work.
