OOT guests... where to stay, poll the audience

Newbie here! Caution: a lot of "set up" required here... I am originally from Fremont, but now I live in Las Vegas. My fiancee is originally from Oklahoma. Our wedding is at the Palm Event Center in Pleasanton/Livermore. The majority of our guests will be from out of town. They are coming from Vegas, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Texas. My parents family members will all stay at hotels in Fremont or around there. I'm trying to decide what hotels to recommend, and wondering where all the other guests would want to stay. Livermore/Pleasanton near the event? Fremont near the Family? San Jose near the airport? We are getting married on 5/28/10 which is the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. We are also planning some semi and un-hosted Saturday and Sunday events around the bay since a TON of our guests have never been to California! What do you think? Where would you recommend your guests to stay if you were in this situation? Thanks!

Most guests prefer to stay near the event or close to the activities - I'd offer 2 or 3 choices for both if possible.  GL!

I JUST got back from visiting Pleasanton and the Palm Event Center, talking with Clay and Monique and checking out hotels and rehearsal dinner location options for my May 14th, 2010 wedding. My top hotel choice is the Hampton Inn on Constitution in Livermore (which is actually closer than downtown Pleasanton from PEC).  My other top choice was the Hilton Garden Inn, also on Constitution.  Third choice, but a bit too old and dingy for me, but better for guests staying for longer, is the Marriott Residence Inn.  There is also a Courtyard by Marriott, and a few other lower level hotels right there (about 6 or 7 hotels on Constitution).  The only higher level hotels in the area are the Four Points Sheraton, but it's located further away at a business park, and the Rose Hotel, which is in downtown Pleasanton and only has 38 rooms.  Now I'm looking for a rehearsal dinner spot - any suggestions?

Great info laabeja!! I was also looking at the Hilton, but since we are in Vegas, I have to send my Mom out on scouting so your insight is very helpful and will reduce her stops! Thank you! For rehearsal dinner we are thinking Campo di Bocce which is just down the road from PEC www.campodibocce.com. Italian food and Bocce Ball courts! Have you played? It is sooooooo much fun! If we don't do that place, we might just come back to Fremont and throw a backyard BBQ with a caterer at my parents house. They have a suitable yard. My other alternative is a winery in the area that does dinner, or Strizzi's http://www.strizzis.com/ or Haps Original Steak House http://www.hapsoriginal.com/private_lunch.html both in downtown Pleasanton I'm so glad to find someone else with a May 2010 date at PEC!!!!!!!!

kbarrett, I'm so happy to have found a 5/10 PEC bride, too!  Glad I could help with the hotels, and thanks for the suggestions for the rehearsal dinner.  We did stop at Camp Di Bocce and loved the back patio area.  I've never played, so I'm glad to hear it's fun! The prices seemed a bit steep for a single pasta option and salad, though it does come with bottomless non-alcoholic drinks.  Also, I'm a little worried that the patio area won't be private, but I don't think that's a deal breaker.  Other nice options in downtown Pleasanton were a little too steep for us, though Pasta Trattoria was delicious, and we've enjoyed Stacey's before.  My parents' house is in South San Jose, so it's just far enough that we can't feasibly hold the rehearsal dinner then though that would have been an awesome option.  Good luck with planning!  I'll keep an eye out for you on the boards :-)

There are a few hotels by the mall in Pleasanton. Our friends had their guest stay at the Sheraton and they were awesome and super accomadating. We went to the after party there, we didn't stay since SIL lived super close, but it was nice and the staff was overly accomadating. Good luck! what a great area to have your wedding!

I'm not getting married in Pleasanton, but we are having our guest stay there. We got a block of rooms at the Pleasanton Hilton, which is super close to the 680 freeway. The rooms are nice and since during the week they are mainly a business hotel we got pretty good rates for the weekend. Then we checked out the Sheraton in Pleasanton, but the girl at the front desk was less than helpful and rude, so we decided not to set up rooms there. We also checked with the Larkspur Landing in Pleasanton. If you have a lot OOT guests that might want the comfort of home, this is a good place. The rooms have kitchens and seperate bedrooms, kind of like an Extended Stay, but nicer. HTH!

I second Camp di Bocce.  I've been to the one in Livermore and there's one in Los Gatos.  I liked the setup of the one in Livermore better but both are great and the food is good too.  I was a little bummed that they serve only beer and wine cause I like my cocktails but other than that it's a great idea for a rehearsal dinner!

Ohh! Mkorba, I'd love to hear how things go with Campo and Hilton Garden Inn.  Your email in your bio link isn't complete, so I couldn't email you.  Good luck with everything in the next 3 weeks!

I'm also a May 2010 bride :)My wedding will be at the Garre Winery in Livermore, and we just booked our blocked hotel room at Sheraton Pleasanton. They were very accommodating and the rate was great. You should ask for Ariel or LeAnn. The location of the hotel is great, directly across from a mall so your guests can walk to the mall. The hotel has been newly renovated, the rate also includes breakfast and free shuttle to the wedding location.

Good to know!  I didn't realize they had a free shuttle - now I have 3 to choose between!

Lindze and mkorba, how much is the rehearsal dinner per person at campo di bocce? I'm considering having my RD there too.

I'm sorry I don't really know the prices.  When I went to the Livermore one and we sat down and ate my parents treated.  Then when I went to the Los Gatos one it was with work so we just ordered appetizers and drinks.  I think the most expensive thing about it is the actual per person fee for playing bocce.  I would call them maybe they have a package with everything lumped together for large parties at a better rate. GL!
