Beach Wedding in CA State Park? What Do I Need?

Hello....I am getting married on a beach next July along the Central Coast.....We really like Garrapata State Beach and Pfeiffer State Beach in Big Sur and were wondering if anyone knew what I need to do about getting a marriage permit or something there?  I called the dept, but nobody is ever there.....Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You do need a permit to get married on the beach. I'm not sure how you go about getting one, however if that dept isn't there, i would start looking elsewhere. I know Monterey is popular and you might get more response from their dept.

I know that Parks limits what parks/beaches they allow weddings at.  However, when I checked the site, Garrapata State park was on the list of places that they allow weddings.  What number were you trying?  The number on the website is  (831) 624-9423.  Good luck!

We were actually at Pfieffer two years ago and there was a wedding. It was absolutely beautiful! We spoke with the bride and groom afterwards and they had the same problem, they couldn't get any correspondence. They ended up driving out to Big Sur and speaking with the rangers who gave them general guidelines on what they can do and can't do and told them that as long as they stayed within those guidelines the rangers wouldn't bother them.
