Food Budget

Yesterday, I met with a caterer. The cost came out to be around $8600.00 including rental for linens, plates, etc, food, tax, labor and service fee for 100 guests. We are estimating around 80-100 guests for our wedding. Is this about average cost for catering? Do you think it would be cheaper to get rentals via rental company vs. catering company? Can anyone recommend other caterers around bay area?

I loved Cosmopolitan Catering. They're based in Sunnyvale but made the trip to our SF wedding. Their food is amazing, definitely contact them to get a quote.

Also - I used them for food and all rentals. It was easier that way and I was still able to make sure we got the best rental prices (research and present your findings in case the rental fees listed by the caterer seem higher).

That seems kind of high.  I realize that I'm getting a crazy good deal - and I'm not getting married in the Bay...so maybe it depends on your location.  But I'd definitely get more than one quote.

Cosmo Catering also was the caterer for my daughter's wedding at a San Martin winery and the food was fantastic!! As Anhngo said they can supply all linens, tableware, and flatware one stop shopping where you don't have to deal with several different vendors. Cheryl is great to work with.

That sounds like a good price to me seeing as how it's a bay area caterer and they already included rentals, tax, and service fee.

We payed 100 per person with caterering... We thought about it long and hard, but once it came down to it, it was worth it. As he talked about it, it made sense. Before tax and labor and rentals and service staff what is this? About 50 per person? Maybe even less? We used Willowstone. I woudl suggest seeing them. They give a free tasting (one of the few apparently). And are super nice.

For the bay area this is a fair price. Things are much cheaper in sacramento
