about to loose my mind..

My wedding is in a week. I have so much to do. And yesterday I got laid off! Now I'm depressed and can't get out of bed.  I could really use some words of encouragement.-B

Ugh, I'm sorry about getting laid off.  That sucks.  BUT!  with the wedding a week out, at least everything is probably paid for??  Can you enlist the help of your friends to get stuff done?  I'll send good vibes your way that you'll find a new and fabulous job soon (but after you enjoy your wedding and some bonding time with your new husband!)  A week away is a good thing!  I still have to wait almost a whole year. ::sigh::But seriously, get up, call a friend and go grab a coffee and enjoy this fabulous fall weather.

Just think now you have time to get all that stuff done and you can enjoy your honeymoon! Worry about your job when you're back and can focus your energy on that. For now just focus on wedding. Like pp said now is the perfect time to grab lunch or coffee with a friend. =) Stay positive! You can do it.

Hang in there. I am also pretty much unemployed right now. I know it is a shot to your self-esteem. Just remember it is not personal, it is the economy! And you have time to make everything wedding-perfect. Enjoy every minute, and remember the reasons you are marrying that wonderful man of yours!!

Sorry about your job, but I believe that everything happens for a reason. When I was laid off about 4 years ago... i was devastated. I actually thought i was getting a promotion. I then found the current company that I work for. They shipped me to Boston to train for a few months where i met FI. I am still with the company today which just relocated me here to San Jose. And get this....I just found out the the CEO of the company that laid me off committed suicide and 2 months after his death the company closes. The company was not financially doing well, so the 40 something employees left did not get their last paycheck, did not get their remaining vacation paid off and they do not get healthcare through Cobra. So...i am soooo glad that they laid me off when they did.Just hang in there and think positive. You're getting married next weeK!!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear that!! I know how you feel, I was laid off last year and it is very hard to deal with. Try to enjoy your wedding and honeymoon and not worry about the future so much. Look at the positive... at least you are not alone!! You have your FI!

Oh no!  I got laid off twice in the past three years, so I feel your pain.  I know how bad I felt, so I'm so sorry it's right before your wedding.  Like everyone said, it sucks and it hurts, but it's not your fault!  And, I also had some good come out of being laid off.  I went back to school and would have never had time to do that working the long hours I did.  Something great will come of this, just keep reminding yourself of that and try your hardest not to worry about it until after the honeymoon.  Good luck, we are all thinking good thoughts for you! :)

What horrible timing! I'm so sorry. I wouldn't let that ruin one of the happiest days of your life. I know that a week before my wedding, I took the time off anyways because I had a million things to do. Do you still have a lot of stuff to keep yourself busy? Invite your bridesmaids over to help. I know that helped keep my mind off of things.

Thank you all sooooo much. Your stories and well wishes warms my heart. To answer some questions, much of the wedding is paid off, which was good. But spend money for fun things like hair, makeup and honeymoon will have to be thought out. Losing my job was a blow to my ego and my talent, but it probably was a good thing.  I'm going to take it one day at a time, and I am actually feeling better. I even got aroundto doing a few wedding related things today. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers again. Many hugs,Brenda
