DJ Poll

So since I'm interviewing a DJ today, I'm unsure of how much I should be spending on this...and it seems so expensive for someone to just play music you know? So here's a little survey:What DJ did you use (or have booked)? How much are you paying and for how many hours (if you don't mind sharing)? What were somethings you want out of your DJ?If you've already had your wedding, was the cost worth it? Were you happy with your DJ?

What DJ did you use (or have booked)? CJ the mobile DJ.How much are you paying and for how many hours (if you don't mind sharing)? We had him for 5 hours or so, the entire time of our ceremony and reception. He was included in the cost of our wedding venue packages. What were somethings you want out of your DJ? To keep the party going and be a good MC without talking too much or promoting ANYTHING including his company. Also to have a good sound system. If you've already had your wedding, was the cost worth it? Totally! He's an awesome DJ with flawless reviews that's included in what we were already paying! He's totally on the higher end of the spectrum... which around here can be around $1800 on up. Were you happy with your DJ?100%

Our DJ is - JSquaredAudio (Joe Clark) Joe doesn't do hour packages - you can book him for the reception only for $850 or for both ceremony & reception which is $1150.  We are getting his services for our 6 hour reception plus at least another 2 hours (setup, etc.) for $850. We wanted a DJ that would give us total control over the playlist (but assist us if needed) and not plan on "playing the crowd" 100%.  Also someone with a good sound system and ideally knew our site.We didn't want someone that was super cheesy, etc.

What DJ did you use (or have booked)? Darion from DNA Entertainment (based out of Monterey, link in my bio!)How much are you paying and for how many hours (if you don't mind sharing)? we had the DJ for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception, so 6 hours total. We paid $1600, which is on the higher end, but we loooooved them, their work, and their reviews. What were somethings you want out of your DJ? we wanted someone who would MC well, keep the crowd going, handle the transitions of the reception and announcements clearly, etc. We also loved that they brought their own lighting package for the dance floor. If you've already had your wedding, was the cost worth it? Were you happy with your DJ? Yes, sooooooo worth it. I don't think the dance floor was empty all night! Darion was an awesome announcer, handled the transitions perfectly, announced clearly, and took requests from guests while at the same time sticking to our must play list. He kept both the younger and older crowds happy. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ.

What DJ did you use (or have booked)? We used Lake DJ in South Lake Tahoe. How much are you paying and for how many hours (if you don't mind sharing)? We are using him for 6 hours, cause we need his equipment for the ceremony too, so we are paying 1200, it seemed high, but compared to the other DJ's up there, seemed pretty normal. What were somethings you want out of your DJ?We wanted someone who could keep the party going, and act as the MC for the night, to make sure everything went smoothly.

What DJ did you use (or have booked)? We booked Denon& Doyle Dj, we got their name from our wedding venue. How much are you paying and for how many hours (if you don't mind sharing)?  We are paying 1000 for 5 hours and this is with lapel mic for the wedding ceremony and a few uplighting lights for the wedding reception. What were somethings you want out of your DJ? A personal and friendly DJ and company which every time I have called them they have been nice and answered all my questions and they even hosts get to know parties where you can meet their DJs and everything. We want him to get our party started and play the music we want as well as play the right music at the moment. I am really looking forward to my reception!

What DJ did you use (or have booked)? -We've booked Sonny from Exquisite Events & Entertainment How much are you paying and for how many hours (if you don't mind sharing)? -We're paying around $2000. It includes 6 hours of service, rehearsal time, an assistant, uplighting, and something else (but I can't think of it). What were somethings you want out of your DJ? -I want a DJ that knows our style and will keep our guests out on the dance floor. Also, someone who isn't obtrusive, but isn't just standing around doing nothing. If you've already had your wedding, was the cost worth it? Were you happy with your DJ? -N/A, but he has some great reviews, which is one of the reasons we stretched our budget a bit.

So since I'm interviewing a DJ today, I'm unsure of how much I should be spending on this...and it seems so expensive for someone to just play music you know? So here's a little survey:What DJ did you use (or have booked)?

We used Sonny of Exquisite Events & Entertainment in Sacramento

How much are you paying and for how many hours (if you don't mind sharing)?

I believe we paid about $2200 for him to be there from like 3pm - 11pm, I think.  He did lots of setting up before/for our 6pm wedding ceremony.

What were somethings you want out of your DJ?

Our DJ played the music for and really orchestrated the ceremony, the introductions of the bridal party, and the reception.  He really ran the show.  He was awesome.  For the price we paid, we also got all of our lighting (which I think really added to our reception) and our gobo for the dancefloor.

If you've already had your wedding, was the cost worth it?

Yes.  Music is HUGELY important to my husband and me, and a great DJ was one thing we were will to splurge on.  We left every meeting with him actually saying we felt we had the "cadillac of DJ's"

Were you happy with your DJ?

    Yes, absolutely.

We also used Denon and Doyle and paid about 9 something for 4 hours.  It was totally worth the money.  Not only did our DJ announce everything but he introduced the bridal party, headed all of the events (bouquet toss, garter toss etc) and even made us a cd of all our wedding music!

Theater: Are you happy with JSquared so far?

He's one of my top 2 picks. JSquared and Extreme Productions are in the running, and I really want to book this weekend....so I don't have to worry anymore.

We are in the process of picking our DJ.
Our wedding planner recommends DJ Bryan from Music & More Dj.  He seems really nice.

One of our friends recommneds DJ Rich DeCano...who is also very personable.

Both have really good reviews.  We are going to take a look at videos examples of their work...I'm not sure yet how much each charges, but my dilemma is should I pick the one that our planner recommends or the one our friend does?

    Any advice out there?

Also, how did you get the countown to show on the post?
    Thanks!
