Northern California Ballroom Venue?

Hi everyone

Just wanted some idea from you all for ballroom reception venues in Northern California. I'm having a 1930s-1940s themed wedding, with 6 piece big band and all, and I am having a really hard time finding a ballroom venue. I'm trying to find something glamorous and timeless. I'd also like to have the option of having the ceremony on the same grounds as the reception.

Anyone have any ideas?

Northern CA is a big place.  Can you narrow it down to particular city or area?

Thank you all for your responses. We live in modesto, but the options here are pretty limited--so we're willing to travel up to an hour and a half.

Are you interested in having your wedding in San Francisco? We just took a look at the venue and the whole hotel has a very vintage and elegant feel to it.

Check out Cocoanut Grove in Santa Cruz and
The Grand Ballroom at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey
(the historic Hotel Del Monte)

check out the berkley city club designed by julia morgan.  Personally i thought the larger space needed a coat of paint, but i think once you were in there, with tables and flowers, it really is a beautiful building.  You should check it out.  They have several ballroom spaces.
Also check out the SF city club...they have nice older spaces with all wood...
