Massages

So - this is random - but do any of you get massages on a regular basis and is it a totally weird experience or is it as relaxing as it sounds?

Re: Massages

  • no! I wish I could though!!  I definitely need it!!
  • meh...I'm not really a massage person. I've had them before and I think they're nice, but if I'm going to get a spa treatment, I'd definitely pick a facial over a massage. I guess I just care about the way I look more than the way I feel? lol...

If they have a massage envy near you they're pretty reasonable.

  • I actually am getting one tomorrow! I love them. I don't do it on a regular basis due to the cost, but I would get one weekly if I could afford it. I have never had a facial though, so I can't compare the two.

  • I've gotten several, but I'm not going to lie, I'm usually a little disappointed after.  I feel like they sometimes aren't as relaxing as they should be (I am slightly ticklish in weird places...like my calves).  I mostly only like my back and shoulders massaged, and I can get from FI for free and it's a lot better quality. :)  And my feet...which I get during pedicures.

Ditto what Meagan said, I like facials a lot better.  If you get a good aesthetician, they will throw in a nice shoulder massage while the masks are on your face.  It's fantastic.

  • My mom loves them and gets one at least once a month, often much more. I have only had two real ones in my life, and thought they were nice, but I also would rather get other kinds of treatments most of the time (I would choose a pedicure over anything else).

If you've never had one, though, I would give it a try. Some ppl swear by them, so maybe you would really enjoy it.

  • I love them - though I don't get them often and sort of save it as a special treat.  To me, it's very relaxing - so much so that I usually just want to sleep afterwards.

FI and I are training for a marathon, which will be in October.  We're doing a lot of cross training and strength training along with our running, so my legs muscles pretty much stay tired and sore.  Massages are intense, almost painful, on sore legs, but feels amazing afterwards.
  • I get them monthly.  I have a bad upper back so it really helps keeps thing lose.  I add hot shone to mine and always do full body.  I feel so good when I leave.  Just a hint...... If you go drink lots of water or you will feel like things will tighten back up.  To me they are well worth the $$$$. My next one is next Friday, cant wait.

  • I love them, but I also want it to go on forever so I am a bit disappointed when it's done. Be sure to let them know the areas you really want them to work on.

Just a FYI, if you have a lot of knots or tight muscles and they work on it- sometimes you'll feel worse after the massage (something to do with toxins being released???). Sometimes I have headaches or feel blah until the next day and it feels so much better. Not sure if everybody shares this experience though.

  • I've never gotten a pedicure. I'm way freaked out by people touching my feet.

I've never had a manicure either - because I don't know exactly what they are..lol
