BBQ location in Santa Cruz/Capitola/Aptos?

We're having a sort of destination wedding (we live in Sac, wedding is in Santa Cruz), so we're planning to host a day-after BBQ to thank everyone for making the trip and offer another chance to get together.

I'd love to have it at a location with picnic tables provided and a beach/ocean view. It doesn't need to have BBQs - my dad prefers to bring his own anyway. And if you know a place that doesn't charge a vehicle entry fee like some state beaches, even better!

Can you point me in the right direction? TIA!

I would suggest going toward Seascape. Its South on Hwy 1 from Santa Cruz, but it is less likely to be foggy there than it will be on beaches in SC. Seascape is actually a resort, that has its own beach. You can park on the street and walk down to it, but it is a pretty step walk.  Its a gorgeous beach, and because its private, you are less likely to get in trouble for having certain things, like you would on a public beach. And like I said... it is less foggy there....

If you want to stay closer to Santa Cruz... try Twin Lakes. Its on the East Side, Parking can be a bit of a mess during the summer though.  My only other suggestion is to check with the University. They aren't on the beach, but have amazing views of the bay, and are usually above the fog line.

There might be picnic tables up above the beach, but I'm not aware of picnic tables on any of th ebeaches.  The University has some spots with views and tables, you can try over my the Media Center.
