Engagement photo shoot locations?

Hi All!

My fiance and I are getting our engagement pics taken on Jan. 23rd in Sonoma County, CA. Since it'll be the middle of winter, the typical places we would go to (vineyards - bare; beach - too cold and windy) won't work. Does anyone have any suggestions for nice places to be photographed in the middle of winter in Sonoma County?

Thanks so much!

what about a park? or university?

maybe go for more indoor - like choose somewhere you both love  - coffee shop, book store, restaurant?

I don't really know Sonoma but we did ours in Old Sacramento with a "first date" theme.  The pictures came out great! Everyone..including us...loves them!

I think you don't necessarily have to totally rule out the beach if you really want that type of location.  While it is chilly in the winter, it isn't necessarily thaaaaat freezing - you could always wear a nice big sweater and jeans, and just roll up the pantlegs a bit.  (And go for a nice warm cup of coffee after!)

If there is a nice field or farm somewhere that you have access to, you could do it there.  The one perk about the winter and rain is that the fields get nice and green and pretty.

Also, it's been awhile since I've been in these particular places, but I believe there are some cutesy ("quaint" as the PP said!) town squares in both Sonoma and Healdsburg - perhaps one of those might work?

And PP's suggestions of indoor locales are good too.  One of our ideas (didn't end up using it though) had been to go to a music store.  Only thing about cafes/restaurants/stores - you may want to check with the business to make sure they don't mind you taking professional pics there.  But indoors might be good, at least as a backup, just in case the weather doesn't cooperate.

    Have fun taking your pics!!!

I actually live in Healdsburg, there are SO many old farmhouses around that have gorgeous front porches! Or you could go to a place like Armstong Woods where they have all the redwood trees, that would be gorgeous if you guys are outdoorsy at all. Talk to your photographer and see if they have any options! There are plenty of beautiful locations around sonoma county :)
