Brazilian Room in Tilden Park, Berkeley

My fiance and I are interested in getting married at the Brazilian Room in Tilden Park next year.  I know that Sat evenings are out, so we are looking at Friday evenings in 2011.  Any one been married there?  If so, what are your thoughts?

My main concern is the drive to and from the hotel to the ceremony/reception site?  Otherwise, I think it is perfect.  I'd love any feedback-- both positive and negative.  Thank you!

I cancelled my reservation there for Saturday April 2nd - daytime - because it turns out that with our small guest list, 55-60, the cost per person was $120 when the (low cost) caterer fees were factored in. And this didn't even include the beverages/alcohol yet.  So I just cut my losses and looked elsewhere.

When I was seriously considering it, I Googled for people's wedding web sites who listed "Brazil Room" or "Brazilian Room" as their venue.  I think the best options I saw were people who had reserved the BR all day (both time slots) and were providing a shuttle to and from their designated hotel and BR.  

You may also want to search "Brazil Room" "Brazilian Room" here on these boards....there have been many many posts about it.

Thank you so much for your input.  It kind of defeats the purpose of wedding on a budget when the catering fees are rather high.  I'm so glad you mentioned this...

If you don't mind me asking, which caterers did you look into?  Which were most affordable when you did your research?  I'll check those out first.

I just had my wedding ceremony at the Tilden Botanical garden which is across the big lawn from the Brazil Room. The site fee is $68 and you have an hour time slot for your specific garden. So maybe if you're on a budget, you can have a ceremony there and then reception elsewhere.

 I answered your question on the Bay Area board. We had our wedding at BR on Saturday with Serves you Right, it was amazing and the food was great.
