please help with ideas

My fiance and I are paying for most of the wedding ourselves. To attempt to cut cost I am thinking about doing appetizers instead of a formal dinner. Here is my dilema... with the wedding being at night ( 5:30) and at a winer that is 45 min from the city, I am worried that it wont be enough with just app's. what do you think?

    I think it depends on your guests, however, just providing apps may lead to some very hungry guests, especially at that time.

    However, if you have understanding guests, and feel comfortable making the request, you could let them know that you will not be providing food and to make arrangements to make sure they don't get hungry.

    Have you thought of having a potluck? Although it might be inappropriate for you to ask all guests to bring something, maybe your nearest and dearest can pitch in!!

    If you want something more than apps but not a catered dinner, you can do what we are planning on doing, which is to go to Costco and get food from there (ie party trays etc) and just fancy up the table/way you decorate when you put them out.
