Phew.. the guest list is FINALLY finalized! There's been about 15 people that we've been debating about for awhile and this week we met with and went over the list with my Dad and FMIL and were able to make firm decisions about all of them. 

The guest list has honestly been my biggest stressor of the entire planning process. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings, but at the same time we have to draw the line somewhere. Trying to categorize friends into "good friends - invite" and "acquaintances- don't invite" was really hard. 

I am SO SO glad this is done and out of the way now.

Awesome...Im still having some anxious feelings also, as we got our STD's today, I think the ones that Im questioning, i will not send STD's too, and see how things go closer to when the invites need to be sent out.

Awesome check!  I was so relieved when we figured this out.  It was much easier for me than FI because I don't have as many friends, but a lot more family.

I'm glad that you have some relief and can move on from this stressor

I'm still fighting with mine and our biggest issue has been the line between "close family" and "not so close family." FI's family is HUGE and has pushed us way over our planned number. We've already cut 30 people off but we really need to cut another 25.

Congrats!  And agreed it was the hardest part.  FI has a HUGE family (like 26 first cousins huge), but my parents are close with their extended family, even though I've never met most of them, so it was a very tough call.

Yeah for you!!!  Doesn't every bride stress over the guest list?  Our issue was the extended network of friends that FI has.  He's the type of guy that's "friends" with everyone, so of course, wanted to invite everyone.  I had to put it prespective for him by saying "if you had nothing to do on a Saturday night and were to call up one of these guys for a beer, who would you actually consider calling and would go out with"?  Once he started thinking about it that way, the list went down by like 20 people!

I still think there are a few more that we could cut, but it's all about the compromise...

LOL BOTH our families are huge. Like 18 grandkids on my moms side and most of the have minimum 2 up to 4 children! I'm 25 and my oldest cousin has a 17 year old! So they ALL have to be invited! FI's family is just as big. In fact my portion of the guest list is like 106 and his is 104 and we've only invited family + a VERY VERY few friends. Like maybe 10 each. And that includes not necessarily OUR friends but people who've known us since we were born that would be upset if we didn't invite them. We can't really invite any REAL friends. Our guestlist is at like 210 and our venue can hold 200. I figure I'm good tho bc I'm counting babies that are under a year in the total too.

I don't think our guest list will ever be finalized. My mom keeps adding random people one by one. I keep taking people I can't stand off the list. I don't argue about it much since my parents are footing the entire bill. But I do wish my mom would just sit down and THINK about all the people she knows and add them if she wants instead of just randomly thinking about one or two people every few days.

Congrats!! That's definitely a stressful part and it's nice to be done with it!!
