Wedding present!

We got our first wedding present! It's a pasta bowl from our dinner ware set.  One question though. The included packing slip said we should be getting a place setting of our dishes but it looks like they're being shipped separately.  Should I wait til they come before sending my TY or go ahead and send the TY out tomorrow? Achi and Petal, I know you two frequent the E board (I lurk a lot over there) so I figure you might know.

  • I would wait so that you can send 1 thank you note for both items.  You should probably get the place setting soon since it seems like they were sent at the same time.

  • I think you need to send the TY now so that the gift giver knows you received the gift.  You could always write the TY as if you already have both, since you know that it's coming and who it's from.  The giver won't know that they shipped separately if they were ordered together.

We received our first gift this week too! Smile

A crock pot! But it was shipped with no invoice or card. I contacted Bed, Bath and Beyond and they were able to tell me who sent it.

  • I would wait for a bit...if the second part of the gift doesn't arrive in the next week or 2, then go ahead and write the TY note.

  • I would wait, but just a little bit.  Not weeks.  I think wait until the weekend and if it hasn't arrived, then write the thank you note for what you received.  You can send another when the placesetting comes.

Posted by lwoehlk[/QUOTE] I think I'll do this. I don't want to wait too long. My shower is in a week and a half and the person who sent this is possibly coming to the shower.

  • I would wait for a few days, I jumped the gun and send a TY for a present when I was 98% sure they'd gotten us a second gift, but it hadn't arrived 3 days later. It showed up almost a full week later and I ended up having to send a second, separate thank you. I wish I had waited just because I'm afraid they got the first TY and thought the second part didn't arrive.
